  • Leaked images of Samsung's Galaxy Note 10 teases embedded fingerprint tech

It looks very sleek. The colour scheme, if not exactly as groundbreaking as last year's Androids, looks great nevertheless.

I'm leaning towards off centre punch holes but it is very small.

I think the design is very modern even if it doesn't set a new bar.

If this is one of the Notes, it hits the mark.
Oh good. You'll become an Android user, and there'll be less need or interest on your part in being on an Apple forum....

    At least, one can hope!

That was an unfounded personal attack. Naughty.

I'm not a fan of Samsung anything. Feels dirty to me. But they are pushing boundaries faster than Apple is. For that, they have my respect.

  • Apple switches off Back to My Mac remote access for all users

Despite that wording, though, Apple's Screen Sharing is only meant for Macs on the same network.

    This is entirely NOT true!

I use Screen Sharing every week to control a Mac 500 kms away. My retail store staff sometimes have problems and I need to assist them. Just open Screen Sharing and enter the Apple ID of the remote user, and once they approve, you are connected. You can be in view-only mode or control mode.

  • Apple's best designs by Jony Ive, according to the AppleInsider staff

I never opened on in person, so I was surprised to see this listed — the Power Mac 9600.

    And now I see why...

  • Editorial: Mozilla's anti-Apple privacy petition call is misguided and unnecessary

I find Apple's approach to be very straightforward. It first asks you about this setting when setting up a new device, so it's technically opt-in from the very start — because you can disable the setting at the very start of using a new or reset device.

And the setting of easily found again in an expected location on all devices.... under Settings > Privacy > Advertising.

Can't get any simpler than that.

  • If you use Google Chrome on your Mac, update it right now

What is it, exactly, that everyone is afraid of Google getting a hold of?  You think Google is the only entity in the world that is "spying" (collecting data) on you?  Ever go out in public, per chance, or just sit behind your "safe Mac" your whole life?  I don't care.  I'm a grain of sand on a beach.

What's unfortunate is that thinking that Chrome (or Firefox) are superior to Safari, and vice versa. All are modern browsers and each adds features and conveniences over the other. I prefer Safari's "feel", but Chrome and Firefox have closed the gap. I still don't like Firefox's text rendering... it's different and seems slightly off.

I use Safari as my main browser, but have Chrome and Vivaldi ready to launch for other purposes. I use Netflix in Chrome, for example. I treat browsers like application wrappers so I can Cmd-Tab between them. I use multiple windows to organize related pages. People that open every single web page in a separate tab and never use multiple windows are missing out. Tabs do not replace multiple windows entirely like many people choose to believe.

Lose the "one single browser" mentality and the world will be a happier, more productive place.
