  • American Express doesn't seem that interested in an Apple Card partnership

I'm sure there's more to it, but why doesn't Apple just do it themselves? They certainly have the capital.

Probably for the same reasons others don't want to partner with them .... not much money in it right now.

Apple is dragging dead weight by partnering with established members of the antiquated banking industry. They should do this in-house. Keep it lean and mean and modern.

Drives me nuts that the banking industry is still Monday-to-Friday, 9am-5pm for the most part, while at the same time pushing everyone to use electronic and mobile banking that don't involve humans being on duty. Combine that with timezones and 5pm Toronto time becomes 2pm Vancouver time, and it's often painful to get any banking done over the phone.

Apple needs to break away from this antiquated industry and show them how it should be done.

  • Google's RCS messaging is coming to iPhone in 2024

I think they’ll still have blue and green bubbles. It’s just that the green bubble fallback option will be RCS and have more functionality than SMS. They won’t have the same level of encryption or the “surprise and delight” features like Memoji. Hence the need to still distinguish RCS from iMessage.

RCS requires data, just like iMessage. SMS is the fallback for both when data (over cellular or wifi) is not available.

RCS supports Delivery and Read status. I suspect that the bubbles will remain green, but with the extra indicators to distinguish RCS from SMS.

  • Swift creator brings new AI programming language to the Mac

    Installing on Mac requires HomeBrew.

Shame that HomeBrew is getting all of the love, and MacPorts doesn't. MacPorts is vastly easier to use for installing packages! I've used HomeBrew a few times, but always had one problem or another, whereas MacPorts has never failed me.

Fantastic.  Because what the world needs is Yet Another Programming Language.

Yah, I've had it on my bucket list to learn Objective-C for 20+ years, and still haven't.  And then along came Swift and it's still untouched. Python is interesting, and to know that there's a variant of it specifically for AI programming... Mojo will become a very popular language, since Python was already the go-to language for AI programming.
