  • Apple's new iPad Pro gets M4 power, advanced Tandem OLED screens

    So, is anyone here?

the iPad came a little while ago. Some first impressions. Like with my wife’s, the new screens are slightly green when compared to the last mini LED models. It’s very slight, and the effect is doubled when putting both screens next to one another. I don’t know why, as the last screens were rated as being near perfect. At any rate, doing comparisons between photos on my friend’s site Digiloyd, I actually do prefer the new screen. As color was my profession in the photo world, I’m sensitive to it. The older screens were just a bit too magenta.

As far as the nano texture goes, it’s really not noticeable. We read so much about this, but I’ve found that the blacks and saturation between my wife’s and mine are pretty much the same. I’ve also seen a video where the guy says that you can hardly see the image on the screen from an angle, and that’s totally wrong. The off angle viewing is just fine. It’s odd, but with the nano screen, type feels more like a book reader with their matte screens. Whatever harshness the glossy screens may have is moderated with this. Reading is a bit easier.

this is new technology. It’s not just an etched screen. Apple shows a dot-like pattern to it. I haven’t gotten a microscope out yet to look, but I normally dislike matte. It damages the image very noticeably. But this does not. I really hope we’ll see it on the Macbook Pro, even at a premium. It’s also somewhat different to the one on my Studio monitor, which I’ve been happy with.

i only spent a minute with the Pencil pro so far so I can’t say much about that. I was never one to hate the glossy screen feel with it though. But it feels slightly different. It glides a bit more smoothly. I’m using this right now with the Folio cover, which is much better than the older one. There are two main stops to the angle. One is straight up, the other leans back about the same as the old one, and you can position it in between. It’s a bit bouncy, which feels odd. I haven’t tried the new Magic Keyboard with it yet.

i haven’t sent a photo up on this site for some time and I can’t seem to figure out how to right now. I used to just be able to pull it from my Photo album, but that doesn’t seem to be working.

  • System Settings getting shuffled again in macOS 15, among other UI tweaks

To make the Mac forever more 'iPhone' is a terrible mistake. It makes the Mac harder to use and makes it more and more redundant. If I wanted an iPhone as my main computing device, I would just use my iPhone! The Mac should have distinct modus operandi.

I absolutely hate the new System Settings in Mac OS. I feel abused by them. Safari has gone downhill by not working correctly with many sites and if they interfere with Calculator, I may abandon Mac for good. None of these changes have been in right direction. Where is the Mac team when you need them?
Safari’s problem is a Google problem. I don’t know if you were around when most sites hewed to standards and features from Microsoft’s IE. Other browsers had the same problems were having now, but worse. Since Google’s browser has taken over most of the market, worldwide, sites are again writing to that instead of universally. That’s what happens with a monoculture.

I do hope that we will see greater improvements to iPadOS, despite the statement in the article that we won’t see much change this year to iOS and macOS. If we don’t, there’s going to be a noisy revolt.
