  • Most analysts got Apple's Q3 2021 wrong -- here's what they predicted

And their stock goes down?  Go figure
Lots of reasons. I listened to the conference call. Mac and iPad sales limited by supply issues. Next quarter, strong double digit growth, but not as good as this quarter. That’s enough to get investors, particularly day traders who account for a large percentage of trading, to get nervous.

  • New energy regulations prompt Dell to stop sales of high-performance PCs in six states

Because Dell is a privately owned company Michael Dell can do whatever he wants, so he pulled high-end products from those states. i wonder how the big-time gamers in California will react to this.

If Dell were still a publicly owned corporation there would have been a crap-storm of major proportions and Dell stock would plummet. I sometimes wish that Apple could go private so it could give the finger to stupidity. Buy me out, Apple! I’m ready.
I guess you don’t know this, but Dell hasn’t been a private company for years. Its stock is up today to $96.

  • Apple says not to use hydrogen peroxide to clean its products

“Apple also recommends that users avoid getting any moisture in device openings”

So much for that IP68 rating.
No. iPhones have worked after being submerged for weeks. The problem that every manufacturer has is that they don’t know what their users are doing. If you exceed their ratings and moisture gets in the phone, how will they knew? That’s why no manufacturer warrants against water ingress. When I was scuba diving, long ago, I had an Omega diving watch rated to 1,000 meters. That watch, back then cost about $5,000. The warrantee stated that THEY would determine whether they would repair it under warrantee. If there was water ingress, that would only be the case if they decided that it was due to a factory defect. No appeal of that decision could be made.

  • TSMC will prioritize Apple 'iPhone 13,' car builder chip orders

Is Apple TSMC’s biggest customer? Most profitable for them? Why prioritize Apple over other PC manufacturers?
Not only is Apple their biggest customer, estimated to be almost 30% of sales, but they also finance much of leading edge node R&D. They also supply machinery. The deal is that Apple get new technology first, and then, after their needs are satisfied, other manufacturers are supplied.

Meanwhile, in another market segment, GloFo is building new fabs, which should help address the shortage.

Hopefully balance will be returned by 2023 or so
For car chips more likely than for anything else. Remember they’re concentrating on 14nm and larger. They gave up work on smaller nodes several years ago.
