  • All US iOS YouTube users will get picture-in-picture support soon

I already have this feature, use it all the time.. by using youtube on safari.

I don't trust google enough to download their apps on my phone.

  • Revamped icons hint at 'iOS 15' app redesign

    OMG.. skeuomorphism!

Remember when that was such a huge debate back in the Forstall days? So much hate for it lol. But I did love (still do) the flat, layered, modern aesthetic Apple switched to, I think it was in iOS 7.

The boring and predictable look of the new icons annoys me, but the more I think about it, it makes sense that function should follow form for practical things like this that get used regularly,  and become just automatic actions that barely register in our consciousness. These new ones should definitely reduce UI anxiety, being very easily identifiable, and with the border that keeps them from bleeding into background images.

However, I really hope Apple also goes further with the iOS 7 idea and creates an even more optimized, hyper modern, hyper clean, hyper flat, hyper layered UI option, maybe called a ‘pro’ option, that has a slight learning curve, but allows really fast and efficient navigation.

  • Parental controls in iOS censor URLs containing 'asian' in Safari

Anyone who’s a fan of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia knows why this is probably necessary lol

  • Apple One fails to solve issues with multiple Apple IDs

    lkrupp said:
Never understood the need or desire for multiple Apple IDs. I have had the same, single Apple ID since day one. To this day users login to their iPhone or Mac with a different Apple ID than the one they used to purchase music or videos and wonder why that content is not showing up. The bitching is constant.
How is this so hard to understand for people??

Apple is screwing over its customers with perpetually bumbled services.

Here’s what happened to a lot of people, including me:
-started an iTunes account with a non Apple email ID
-started a separate iCloud email account when getting iPhone, bc Apple forces this in order to fully use iCloud features
-Apple doesn’t allow merging of iTunes email/ID with iCloud ID to fix this problem
-I believe one time Cook even said something to the effect of ‘keep using separate IDs for now, it will be fixed in the future’ (a reply to customer email I believe). Well, it’s been about 10 gd years since then, and now it’s not just iTunes that is separate from my iCloud, but music (and all my saved preferences), apps, and podcasts.

Yet Apple decided to keep making the problem worse instead of fix it. After this much time, it almost shows a degree of distain Apple must have for its customers.

  • A public reluctant to use Apple Pay is being enticed by the Apple Card

    tjwolf said:
I had only used Apple Pay once because I accidentally left my wallet at home and I needed gas badly at that moment. Credit cards are still my go-to payment method even my "Wallet" app has all the cards in there. This is more of a habit that I'm used to. Not to mention when pumping gas, who wants to walk all the way in the store just to use Apple Pay when the pump accepts only cards.
More pumps are being modified to take payments right at the pump, including Apple Pay. This is starting to rollout at Costco gas pumps, for example.
I've been curious about this for awhile - as I've begun to see wireless payment options on gas pumps.  How does it actually work, though?  I mean, in a typical ApplePay (or credit card) transaction, you pay *after* receiving  the product or service.  But on gas pumps, you need to authenticate - usually by sliding your cc - before you can even begin to pump.  Does an ApplePay accepting pump basically do two transactions?  One with "zero" amount to authenticate and then another once you've pumped?
I presume the series of two authentications would remain. First, swipe the Costco card then pay after.
When I buy things at walgreens it goes very smoothly. Tap my watch the first time (no card selection needed), and my walgreens card is inputted automatically. Tap my watch the second time for the payment and it defaults to the default credit card. No physical cards needed. It's great.
