  • Apple considers $2B Apple TV+ streaming rights grab for Formula 1

I’m sure Formula 1 is exciting

These days, F1 is just a mega marketing event with a bit of racing at the icing on the top.  It costs a small fortune to attend even the practice sessions.
If you want proper racing then almost any of the clubman series would be a better bet than the borefest that F1 has become.
I say that as someone who started going to F1 in the days of Graham Hill with my Father. After James Hunt/Nigel Mansell, it became IMHO very uncompetitive.
Some of the battles involving Mansell, Lauda, and Senna were epic. Today? ZZZZzzzzzzzzz

    Apple should stay well away.

Now I completely understand why England left the EU.
The con by Nigel Farage and his buddies? In the UK today Brexit is widely considered to be a failure. Even Nigel has said that.
A failure that will hang around our necks long after Nigel has drunk his last pint.
mind you, the EU is shooting itself in the foot with these new border controls (to get into a Schengen Country). Big Brother is watching you all the time that you are inside the zone.
I predict a huge drop in travel into the Schengen area in 2024 and the EU will be to blame for that.

     But still no CarPlay. *eyeroll*
Out of curiosity, do you own a Tesla, or are you just white knight-ing for Apple? May as well be upfront about it, at least. Here, I'll even give you a "like" on your post to give you the affirmation you were after.
You don't own a Tesla. While the company can brick it at will, you are merely renting it. Yes, you might have the title but you don't ultimately control what the car does, Tesla does. If you like that then fine.
As I see it (my EV-6 has Car Play but I don't use it) Car Play and Android Auto places a great chunk of the infortainment system out of reach of the car maker. Some may not care about that one little bit but for others, the 'connected' car is a great source of user data. Once they get it, they can sell it just like Google does.
IMHO, it is all about control.

  • EU proposes breaking up Google over anti-competition concerns

    Hey Google... Go... Go Now.

Ok, so I have a downer on Google but if you saw the logs of the hack attempts on an almost daily basis originating from Google controlled IP addresses. Do they do anything about it? Do pigs fly?
Their attacks include trying to scan every page on my sites. I have the robots.txt but they simply don't care. All they care is suck, suck, slurp, and suck.
I have blocked every Google IP address but they keep on registering new ones (according to whois)

  • Apple TV+ gains UK subscribers as Netflix, Disney+ dip

What a lot of people forget is that in the UK, you can have 100+ TV channels at zero monthly cost by using FreeSat. A smaller number of channels can be had using FreeView which is broadcast like old-style TV.
All that is needed is a compatible TV (most are FreeView OOTB) or a set-top box that can be had for the price of one month's SKY subscription.
Sure, you don't get all the so-called blockbuster movies and series that are shown on the premium subscription channels but personally, there is more than enough to watch using my PVR.
In periods when money is tight, services like Netflix or Sky will get cut. That is my take on the reduction in subscribers to some services.
