  • Apple wants to screen real F1 races after its film's success

As it currently stands, most F1 races are borefest processions with almost zero overtaking. Yes the British GP last weekend was exciting but most of that was down to the weather. (it rained a bit).
I used to watch F1 and even go to the odd race but then it went behind a paywall and going costs an arm and a leg and then some.
F1 today is all about how much money can be fleeced from the fans and now much advertising can be eyeballed by viewers and not the racing.

I hope Apple does not pay good money for the F1 rights. There are better and more exciting sports to broadcast. Tiddlywinks perhaps?

  • Apple researchers work to stop AI from taking actions you didn't approve

As long as I can disable it, I'm fine. As long as an update does not sneakily enable it (like MS does to features you have turned off on a regular basis) I'm fine.

Try telling a court, 'Sorry, my phone's AI bought a 1st class flight to Hawaii when I really wanted a bus ticket from NYC to Philly"

AI, as it is currently implemented, is an over hyped POS. Sure, there are a few things it can do for us, but there is no killer app. I don't want it anywhere near my devices.

  • Meta wants to upload every photo you have to its cloud to give you AI suggestions

Around here, Facebarf is for Boomers who have nothing better to do. (Yes, I'm old enough to be a boomer)
All my family was once on the platform—the operative word is 'once'—but now they are all on BlueSky.
I did sign up for MySpace back in the day, but that only lasted a month or so. Now, I do other things with my life rather than scroll through endless posts of utter drivel. My 4th Novel has just been uploaded for printing.

  • Five ways macOS Tahoe makes you radically more productive

Funny how I've been using a Mac since 2008 and never knew I needed any of these features.

    As for this...
Live Activities are an iPhone feature that means important information is displayed on the lock screen, and constantly updated. Flight details. Uber arrival times. Take out food delivery times. Sports scores.

These 'things' are the most annoying things about phones. I certainly don't want them cluttering up my Mac Screen.

IMHO, these features might be useful for some users but not all by a long chalk.

  • Apple accused of cashing in as UK battles phone theft surge

Many of these phones are stolen to order and are shipped out of the country within hours.
Some have been found in China, Russia and the Middle East.
Would your local Police try to get them back even if you know where it is?
    Probably not.
Anyone taking selfies is advertising what phone they have.  Again, an invitation to the gangs of thieves.
Flashing your maxi-sized phone around in places like the middle of London or any big city is  IMHO flashing an invitation to these gangs to come and get the phone.
That's why I use an iPhone SE. Hardly worth nicking.

I have seen these gangs in operation in Glasgow. They are incredibly well organised.

Could Apple and Google do better?
You bet. They could automatically disable the phone the next time it is connected to a network. That might not be so easy in some countries.  Make reporting the theft easy. Do it in hours not days.
But people, please don't waft your top of the range phone around in crowded places/tourist hotspots. If you to make sure that it is covered by insurance.
Oh, Apple, please allow people to register their phone with you. Connect the IMEI etc with you. How many people know the serial number or IMEI number of their phone? You don't so make a database so that when your phone is stolen, those details can be available to you and law enforcement.
