Apple's carbon-neutral goal is a giant task, could echo through big tech
meanwhile...To quote an report on the BBC https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-54141899Google says it has wiped out its entire carbon footprint by investing in "high-quality carbon offsets".It became carbon-neutral in 2007 and says it has now compensated for all of the carbon it has ever created. It is a whole lot easier if you mostly steal information and only make a little bit of stuff. -
Oracle wins TikTok bid prior to impending U.S ban
Big mistake Larry. TikTok will wither and die in your hands because you don't have access to the Chinese IP, the 'secret sauce'. For someone who made their money out of a few lines of IBM 360 code (or something like that) you have overseen a company that has become almost as hated as Facebook is in the IT world.I guess that the new EULA for TikTok will be 500 pages of 5pt comic sans that includes signing away the rights of your unborn children... /sOracle is the devil in disguse. Deals with the devil as many customers and staff have found out to their cost never end well. It is kinda ironic that Oracle's colours are Red. Perfect for the Devil and the PRC.{disclaimer. I was a former Oracle 7.3 DBA. That was before I knew better.} -
China would prefer TikTok shut down in US instead of sold to domestic company
It would be an interesting precident. If TikTok were to cease operating in the USA, perhaps the EU might like to [cough][cough] suggest that Facebook etc stop operating in Europe because of security concerns. After all we all know that these companies are only in business to spy on us which they use to sling [redacted] adverts at us.

Apple shutting down Sign in with Apple support for Epic Games accounts
If Apple released and Android phone then I'd avoid it simply because I really try hard to limit my exposure to anything from Google (and FB and Microsoft and... ) That is why google[dot]com is blocked at my home firewall (along with over 5000 other scumbag owned domains, not all google I might add) The sheer number of packets (sometimes tens of thousands) that get blocked on a daily basis just shows how deep the snooping on our lives the likes of Google, Facebook etc have gotten. They are always switching to new domains and ip addresses. It is a game of cat and mouse just to keep them out. Google is in a race with Facebook to see who can get to full 'Big Brother' status the first. Thinking of buying something? Those [redacted] sites probably know what it is and where you are going to buy if before you do. I'm just waiting for the targetted ads that flash up before you when you are on your way to buy said item. all of them desperately trying to persuade you to buy another brand and/or use another outlet. We won't have to wait very long got this, if it isn't already happening.
