  • Qualcomm shouldn't win iPhone import ban, says ITC judge

Qualcomm's desperate move to avoid having to settle has failed. I don't think Apple's in much of a mood to settle anymore.
This sort of case is never really over. Just look at the SCO vs IBM from what was it 2003? Someone is still trying to milk the system and keep it going even though SCO ceased to exist years and years ago (That someone is the court appointed trustee who happens to be a lawyer... Take from that what you will)

If you want real cheerleader madness AND self-driving cars then why not head on over to a Tesla forum. There is plenty of it there.

iPhone is better than Samescam? What a surprise. Not.
That's not what the words in the article conclude, for the majority of tests...
And the majority of people won't notice the difference.
They'll just point and shoot as before.

    Windows? No.

    Thankyouverymuch.
When I retired, I junked all my Windows systems (junked as in sent to recycling). After two and a bit decades of fighing Microsoft idiosyncraties I'd had enough. To run windows these days you have to accept that you will do as MS dictates. It is their computer, not yours. Unless you are in a corporate environment they will ensure that your, sorry their machine starts a 3hour update process just when you don't want it to. Yes, I know that there are work auonds but how many average users will begin to know how to stop the updates?

I could rant on for hours at just how bad Windows 10 has become but I just can't be bothered.
I know that MacOS isn't perfect but it is far less in your face than Windows which is all I'm after really.

  • New patent lawsuit targets Apple over voice control tech in Siri- & HomeKit-enabled device...

Patent portfolios are also good for defusing large, costly, and drawn out disagreements between competitors/adversaries, or even once-friends that have become competitors/adversaries.
A great example of "once-friends" is from Digital Equipment Corp (DEC) dealings with Intel.  DEC was shopping for a second source to manufacture its Alpha processor.

At the time Intel's X86 architecture had hit a clock speed wall.  Pushing it any further made it unbearably hot.  After examining the Alpha's design (at DEC's request) Intel incorporated significant elements of that design into its next-generation processors called Pentium.  DEC sued and Intel agreed to buy DEC's fab and the Alpha design.

Funny thing about the Alpha chip.  Motorola was running into a clock speed wall itself with the 68000 family of processors.  Jobs approached DEC about using the Alpha in future Macs.  DEC's founder and CEO (Bob Olson) refused to consider Apple's overture as he believed the Mac was doomed.  Shortly after the settlement with Intel Olson was forced to step down and the Company was sold to Compaq Computers.
I think you mean Ken Olsen. (ex Dec employee). From memory, it was several years after Ken O stepped down and Compaq bought the business.
