  • Foxconn must improve living conditions for workers at shuttered iPhone plant

So why would any company who cares about human rights operate in India?
....  Oh yeh, sales and profit.

In other news, India's Modi has frozen the financial accounts of Mother Teresa's Sisters of Charity because India's far right Hindu's don't like that they provide food, shelter, hospice care and education to India's countless destitute and homeless adults and children.  They claim the Sisters are converting them to Christianity -- even though Mother Teresa had always been 100% clear that they are religious agnostics:  they don't care what religion you are (if any) if you are an abandoned child, homeless & destitute or dying alone and that they only teach Christianity to those who are interested and request the teaching.

The result is that Modi and his far right Hindu's are blocking the Sisters from providing much needed food, shelter, hospice care and education to India's destitute and abandoned children.
So George, what’s it like obsessing over all the injustice in the Western capitalism world knowing full well you can do absolutely nothing about it. Does ranting and raving about Western capitalism make you feel better. Do you sit down for a cup of hot cocoa after your rants, thinking you changed any minds? Just asking.

And by the way, Foxconn workers are NOT Apple employees no matter what your convoluted thinking tells you.

  • Lower-priced Apple external display rumored to be on the way

Half the price is still to high. Sometimes I think that there is no point in making the best products if people can’t afford them.
Not true at all. The ‘best’ products can be afforded by those with the financial ability to do so. Look at the audio equipment (amplifiers/speakers) market, look at the HDTV market, look at the housing market, look at the automobile market, look at the wristwatch market. It’s why most of us settle for the ‘good enough’ model and then claim it’s a s good as the top end product to feel better.

So, no, the rumored monitor will definitely be priced out of the ‘good enough’ market. Many years ago when Apple manufactured monitors they weren’t cheap by that time’s market either. This go around will be no different.

Just strip the Mac out of the M1 iMac, half the price and ship that. They’d sell boatloads of them!
You nailed it sir. That's all they need to do. I would buy one if they would. Why don't they do it?
Maybe they have thought of it and decided that profit per unit is not as high as they want.

That is precisely the reason. Many here are always complaining about Apple prices but a near $3T market cap refutes those arguments. Millions of people all around the world ARE buying Apple products at the prices Apple sets.

  • Employee COVID outbreak forces Apple to close Texas store

If people do not follow the rules or implement standards, this virus WILL NEVER go., Oh well.  The country will go broke.
A member of the Illinois legislature has introduced a bill that would require non-vaccinated people hospitalized with Covid to pay the costs of their hospitalization out-of-pocket, whether they have insurance or not. Hit someone hard enough in the pocketbook is usually the only way to get their attention. The bill probably won’t get far but I think it’s a great idea to ‘encourage’ vaccinations.

  • Epic vs. Apple App Store changes will wait until after the appeal

if Apple is accurate when it says it may take months to complete, then either Apple will be in violation of a court order, or Apple will have to shut down its store to avoid being in violation of a court order. There are no other options. I'm hoping for the latter, of course.
You’re hoping for the latter? You’re hoping that Apple is forced to shut down the app store? Wow, what a hater. I had no idea.

So much for NCO promising to only sell to legitimate law enforcement agencies and governments. I guess to them legitimate means that the cheque cleared.
China, Russia, Iran and N Korea are all legitimate government. Just the rest of the world don’t really think that way.
Not sure how you came to that conclusion.  I am not aware of any efforts to decertify diplomats from those countries, or to expel their ambassadors or anything at all of a similar nature.

The rest of the world may disagree with these countries and their actions but they don’t deny the governments of these countries being legit

Interesting how you define legitimate. North Korea’s dictatorial regime may be de facto but it is certainly not legitimate.  It is a blood thirsty, repressive, genocidal regime, not a government by any definition of the word. The United States and most of the rest of the world have no diplomatic relations with this atrocity. Only China pays any attention and that’s because the Kim family is useful as a buffer in the East.
