  • Apple employees threaten to quit as company takes hard line stance on remote work

This is all caused a by a small number of malcontents and picked up by tech blogs to stir the pot.

    Headline:

    "Apple employees threaten to quit”

    Last sentence in the article:

"About 10 people plan to resign or know others who will resign due to the hybrid policy, the report said.

See what I mean. Squeaky wheels getting all the attention. And I’ll bet these employees are low level types, of little importance to the operation of the company, and easily replaced by those who want to work.

  • Parallels working to bring Windows 11 to Mac

Limited article. Parallels can’t do anything with Windows 11 until Microsoft releases an ARM version. Apple moving away from Intel so VMWare seems to not care about non-Intel related virtualization. Parallels is trying but can’t make Microsoft do anything. Running Unix/Linux under virtualization on an M-series Mac might not have enough customers to keep Parallels in business long term.
Um... Windows 10 has had an ARM version for a while now, and the Window 11 Insider Preview is available as an ARM version.

The only question is one of licensing; whether Microsoft will require that Windows 11 ARM version is licensed for installation inside a virtual machine.
I’ve been reading reports about Windows users finding out that Windows 11 is really, REALLY picky about hardware requirements. Apparently there’s an app that checks and verifies whether Windows 11 will run on a user’s hardware and the requirements are difficult to meet.

If Microsoft eventually does license Windows 11 ARM I’m sure it will not satisfy many of those who want to run classic Windows apps. Would that not require Microsoft to produce a Rosetta 2 of its own?

  • Facebook joins $1 trillion market cap club following dismissal of FTC suit

The $1 Trillion market cap is ‘mythical’? Apple and Microsoft are at $2 Trillion. Nothing mythical about it.   :#

  • Isaac Asimov's 'Foundation' to premiere on Apple TV+ September 24

Asimov fans, of which I’m a lifetime member, are anxious about how these Foundation novels will translate to the screen. I read the three original Foundation novels when I was 16 years old (1966) and was completely blown away by the grand scale of them. Modern special effects will no doubt be amazing but the core concepts of the series will be the hardest to get across, the idea that human populations are predictable and malleable. Asimov used the term psychohistory which is a current area of study.

Not the future of the Mac, let Windows go.

Accept the inevitable. The days of Windows on a Mac are coming quickly to an end. So are the days of the macOS on PC hackintosh.

I can live fine without Windows.
Where is the people complaining they can’t run Windows on their Intel Mac? I’ve said it before, but Windows on a Mac was always a side benefit.
Many of us bought Macs with the intent of also using them to run Windows.  I am one of them, and know many that can't divorce Windows entirely.  That Macs could run Windows was key for me buying my first Mac back in 2008.  I even bought a new 2020 iMac knowing this will most likely be my last Intel machine, and can run Windows for many years to come until both ASi Macs, and maybe even Windows ARM will have been fully baked when I'm ready to get another new Mac.
Many A small number of us bought Macs with the intent of also using them to run Windows.” There, I fixed it for you.
