Apple responds to viral tweet over disappearing iTunes movies
Typical knee jerk reaction. It's ALWAYS Apple's fault!. Instead of "buying" digital content it might be better to be advertised as an unlimited "rental" agreement. Perhaps AI should do an investigative deep dive on the issue of digital content ownership. The DCMA is one huge bag of hurt when it comes to who has the rights to what. I have "purchased" a number of movies from iTunes, Vudu, and Prime but I have no idea what I actually bought. Streaming rights only? Do I "own" anything other than a license? Can the copyright owner remove a movie from the service I purchased it from? If I have a physical media copy of a movie I don't think I can be prevented from playing it a compatible device. Or can I?
What if Walmart decides to shut Vudu down? Do I lose the movies I purchased? do I have a right to a physical media version in it's place? I'm sure the lawyers have this all spelled out in the fine print somewhere. -
Apple focuses on size with 'Illusion' ad for iPhone XS & XS Max
Gizmodo is excoriating Apple for "hiding" the notch in this commercial, claiming it's all but unethical. Ever notice how these douchebag websites latch onto something negative and beat it to death? First the headphone jack and now the notch, both of which have been proven to be accepted by the majority of buyers. When's the next Samsung notch shaming ad coming coming? Anybody? -
Apple faces iPhone ban in South Korea over patent infringement investigation
hammeroftruth said:ihatescreennames said:Where is Nunzy to tell us how Apple should retaliate against all of South Korea for this insult?
These type of lawsuits always interest me, in a way, but they take so freakin’ long to resolve I just end up bored. -
Intel allegedly outsourcing some 14nm orders to TSMC as Mac chip maker struggles with die ...
The once mighty Intel. Who would have thought it would end like this. There's a great documentary on Prime about the beginnings of Silicon Valley and William Shockley, the inventor of the transistor. He founded Shockley Semiconductor which spawned Fairchild Semiconductor, which spawned Intel, founded by Gordon Moore and Robert Noyce. Moore and Noyce were recruited by Shockley when he started Shockley Semiconductor. A group of engineers that included Moore and Noyce left Shockley and started Fairchild Semiconductors. Later Moore and Noyce left Fairchild to start Intel. -
Apple Watch Pride face is blocked in Russia by watchOS 5
How many here would like to see Apple completely pull out of any country or region that has human rights issues? Wouldn't that mean a complete shutdown of the company, including in the United States? This is reality, people. You either work within the system or take your ball and go home. The true engines of change work within the system they have issues with. There is no hypocrisy here unless you have horse blinders on.
