European regulators evaluate iPadOS changes for compliance with Digital Markets Act
alandail said:Insane the EU thinks they can set fines based on global revenue, and not EU revenue. Apple isn't the only company facing this level of arrogance where the EU is stating a claim on revenue that has nothing whatsoever to do with them. Why isn't the WTO stepping in to block this?
Who do you think controls WTO?

A clever hack fixes the new Mac mini power button's awkward location

No, it's not a serious suggestion.Right. That's why I said it's not a serious suggestion. I do not consider it a problem. Every single computer in my house stays powered on 24/7, and they all go to sleep after like 30 minutes of no input. I spent a month one time dutifully turning them off at night when I was done, and back on in the morning, recording the power usage at the meter, and the difference was negligible. Others' mileage may vary.Definitely not scientific, as I didn't account for any other usage, but close enough. -
Apple makes $1.1 billion commitment to expand satellite messaging

Well, if one doesn't have the cojones to simply not answer the phone while on vacation, or one can't afford to lose their job because of their employer's questionably legal requirement to be available when not being paid, then "Sorry, my phone doesn't have that capability."

Apple rumored to ditch Broadcom Wi-Fi for own design in iPhone 17
wood1208 said:Apple, do it and do it fast. Put good use of many skilled engineers Apple hired from Intel networking, Qualcomm, Broadcomm to build the best Wifi,BT,5G chips. Moreover, If Apple can quickly integrate WiFi 7, BT 6, 5G modem and more on A-series SOC, it gives better performance, less heat, less power consumption and more space for larger battery. All good,
Apple, please don't do it "fast". Do it right.
