EU Apple Pay antitrust action is complete, after NFC opened to competitors
AppleInsider said:The EU says that the time was spent testing Apple's commitments, and consulting with rivals over them.
Translation, "we've consulted with the people bribing us properly to see if they're happy with the changes."

Florida has temporarily suspended support for its digital driver's license app
macxpress said:CrossPlatformFrogger said:Sure this sounds super convenient but I'm not sure why everyone is rushing to have all of their data and identity controlled by Big Tech. I actually find it scary that one company has all your health data, personal information, banking information, and basically knows everything about you. That they'll use for their own corporate gain. There may not have been a data breach to date but the day there is, it'll be the most disastrous. I prefer my data to stay with the places that hold them now. With all that said I support regulation of big tech and think they should stay out of every industry

More than just a redesign: Photos in iOS 18 will also beef up security
AppleInsider said:The app itself will automatically generate new Collections and Memories based on similar photos, or when and where they were taken.I could wish that process would be more under the user's control, if the user so wished. I might not want to always create a new collection or "memory".As well, if I am going to an event, I wouldn't mind being able to tell the app, "store all the pictures I take into X album/collection/member until I say otherwise." So if I'm going to the Ren Faire or my granddaughter's birthday party, I don't have to move them all later.
