  • Apple sues Ericsson over standards-essential patents

It’s about time Apple went on the offense. SEPs with charges to use are a type of monopoly. If you submit something as a standard everyone should be able to use it for free. The SAE and metric measurement standards force manufacturers to comply so why aren’t telecommunications standards the same way.
IANAL but I believe that everyone should be able to use SEPs, but not necessarily for free. You still must pay to use the patents if the owner is asking for it but the fees must be Fair, Reasonable And Non Discriminatory (FRAND). I haven't looked at the details of this case but I'm guessing Apple's position is that Ericsson is trying to pull the same stunt Nokia was doing shortly after the iPhone was launched, or maybe it's because of some sort of Qualcomm-ish double dipping scheme.

  • Report shows Mac shipments grew in Q2, up 9.3 percent year-over-year

Another article earlier today by AppleInsider on Mac sales seems to differ from this article when talking about the number of Macs delivered in the second quarter of 22. Previous article claims Apple shipments clocked in at 4.8 million units during Q2 2022, this article says 6.4 million.
That was my second thought after the usual first thought that these 'reports' always have and always will be estimates at best, and pulled out of the a$$ guesses at worst. For the facts we'll just have to wait for the Apple Financial Results of Q3 2022 Earnings call on the 28th. Thankfully they don't break out volumes anymore but just the money like everybody else. Every now and then though, I wouldn't mind that they report some numbers a week or two after the earnings call just to show these clowns how off they really are. By then the delay should buffer WS 'analysts' finagling with the numbers to find something to trash the stock.

  • Hands on: How to mirror your Apple Watch to iPhone in iOS 16

I do some volunteer work in our library and this will make teaching Apple classes about the Watch a whole lot easier. You just keep the watch on your wrist mirror it to the phone, then mirror the phone to your projector, monitor or if you’re using zoom share your phone screen which has the watch on the screen. No more focus issues and pointing a camera at the watch face. How cool is that.
My thoughts exactly. This will be useful for ad hoc remote quickie show & tell or tutorials as well as live, demonstrating features to people next to you without holding your arm awkwardly showing it on a diminutive screen. A Pro Max will bring a bit of magnification, would be nice on iPad.

  • Apple has another record-breaking quarter, reporting $97.28B in revenue for Q2 2022

Meanwhile, in after-hours trading, the stock takes a complete nosedive. Go figure...
Yep, the old Apple Slingshot, build it up 4.5% on the day of their earnings, scramble to be first to cash out your earnings before the stock plummets back down the whole 4% within the hour !
Once it bottoms out, some might want to get back on but of course, as always … the trick is to guess the nadir correctly !
