Apple's plan to scan iPhone photos for child abuse material is dead
As I have said before it does not make sense unless you go after the sources not the end pervert. Plus if the image is not in the database to compare the hash you are not going to catch the new sources. Glad apple saw the error of the altruistic ways, yes they thought them were well meaning and doing it for right reason, but at the cost to everyone. -
Apple employee petition demands flexibility against return-to-office policy
I suspect the ones complaining no longer live near the office and they cannot or will not commute. No sure if anyone remembers but when every company in the valley were trying to hire anyone and everyone, Apple and the like had buses brings people from the far reaches of valley just to get people to work. Those buses all had Wi-Fi so they could do work on the ride. Now no one wants to leave their homes just think about how anti social all these people will become, they think because they have twitter or a Facebook page they are connected to people.I use to love taking pictures of my kids playing sports then one day my wife pointed out just because I’m viewing the game through the lens does not mean I’m actually experiencing the game. After that I put down the camera and became more engaged. The best advice I was ever given. -
EU law will force Apple to blow open its entire hardware and software stack
Apple’s solution to this law is to create a stripped down phone with no security features, no pre-installed apps and let the EU created their own App Store and figure how to make everything safe and secure. Then not sell the phone the rest of the world gets. If the EU things they can do it better let them. -
IRS reverses course, won't require video selfies for taxpayer identification
GeorgeBMac said:rob53 said:Just one more attempt at creating a facial database of every American, making it easier for the FBI to locate anyone. Is this in our Constitution? So, it has to be written in the Constitution to be valid? How many existing laws are in our Constitution? The only ones who need to fear identification are those breaking those laws.
BTW, the government's only job is to ensure that no one infringes on our rights and pass no law which infringe on those rights including the government elected and non-elected officials and yes we all have a right to privacy so it is written into the Constitution.

Senate Judiciary Committee advances antitrust bill targeting Big Tech
Why is this just gear toward high tech companies, you could target grocery store with their store brands, as well as car companies which and their parts department who only preference their own branded parts. This become more and more of an issue with the fact most all new cars can only be repaired by the dealer for anything more than standard maintenance. Some cars you can not even replace the rear brakes since the have electronic control e-brakes and it required dealer only software to disengage them.
