Jackery Solar Generator 3000 Pro review: Lots of portable power, with lots of weight
I got the Zendure Superbase V, peak of 3800 watts output and 240 volts and between AC and DC charging can go to 6000 watts input, daisy chain up to 5 batteries each and pair a couple of identical systems for a massive home system. But the main unit is about 130lbs so you have to be my size to pick it up to go up or down stairs. For most maneuvering it has powered wheels to allow anyone to move it (you can even drive it with the app), and you can stack one of the batts (which are not much lighter) and it rides on the wheeled unit and doubles it's power. It's long enough that you can lift the front wheels in the car and then back wheels so you don't pick the entire unit up at once. I am very happy with the two I got at Kickstarter pricing. Should have a sub panel, like a generator panel coming this month that allows two units to provide power to 10 circuits in your house and run them off battery when needed. Not a PowerWall, but it goes where ever, can even charge them up at public EV chargers -
How to protect yourself when your iPhone and passcode are stolen
I don't get people that think the world is WORSE off today than some mythical time in the past. Who wants to go back to feudal times, or the Wild West, and don't get me started on women's equality. We have frickin' cars that let us go anywhere in perfect comfort and we can pay for fuel by waving our phone, the same device that lets us be in immediate contact with our entire world. Oh, boo hoo, I can't remember my password, so be like Ed Rooney's secretary and write it on a post-it.
If you are worried you cannot secure your phone, don't put things on it that others could abuse. You can just go down to the bank and cash a check still. Scammers are a real thing and elder abuse has been happening since the dawn of time. It is likely you are going to lose some money when you can't afford to, but don't blame the phone, blame the horrible human beings that live on the planet with us.
Oh, and I didn't see mentioned, if you wanna secure your phone for fear that someone will force you to open it just hold down the buttons on the side for 5 seconds. It'll call emergency services but then your phone will require your pin to unlock, and even the courts can't force you to unlock it. -
Pay up or get out: Apple's options for South Korea's App Store law
I read a bunch of developer comment here that they were happy with the system as is. I see that greedy big names have gotten in the news by trying to grift off of what Apple provides, but I don't see what Apple has done other than provide a system that addresses as many needs as possible with the fewest exceptions. They have made an environment for mom & pop startups to sell to the giant world of iPhones and allow these companies to grow and make more money as they do.
I have heard of people complain that they don't get feedback from Apple very quickly, but it is a production line getting apps reviewed and onto the store. I also didn't ever hear from the guys putting my Tesla together while they built it. I just got the car at the delivery center when they were done and they had already moved on to the next car. That's how economies of scale work.
How do you mean Apple could have diffused this? Pandered to greedy successful developers at the expense of others? -
Improved keyless entry system could replace car key fob with iPhone
Don't confuse the Key function with Remote functions. Things like checking the inside temp or opening the sun roof will use the cellular network and will fail if there is no cellular connection. Bluetooth is quick and local, so unlock the door, pop the frunk, things you should be able to do even if you are in a canyon w/o any cellular connection. Cannot believe the author didn't mention Tesla as all of the comments are about it.
