  • Video: Wishlist of features and fixes Apple could give the HomePod during WWDC 2018

I can’t understand why you want to get recipes on a device that doesn’t have a screen. Likewise what good are travel directions on a device that doesn’t leave your home.
For some simple recipes it's handy - cocktails or in my case, bread recipes i make often but forget the quantities. I usually just need the ingredient list. But an improvement would be the ability to tell your assistant to show it on, eg a phone or tv if you've lost track of things
Why not just do it on your phone? It’s much easier than trying to remember a list spoken to you.

  • Our biggest gripes with Apple's 2018 iPad

This junk iPad needs a nickname
    iPad SE.

I get that it costs half as much as a Pro, and that’s exactly what they were going for, but non laminated display, really? Back when I had my iPad 2 and 4, I absolutely LOVED the feel of the solid glass display. You tapped on it with your fingernail and it sounded solid. When the first Air came out, I bought that one. Big mistake! Just the feel and hollow sound of that display was a huge disappointment. And if you pressed harder, you could actually see the cover glass bend. I hated that thing. I tried out an Air 2 when they came out and was so happy to see they went back to the solid cover glass display, I traded up right then and there. I believe the Mini or Mini 2 had that same hollow screen. It just sounds so cheap. Stick with the laminated screen.
Think you have got this the wrong way around, the Airs had the laminated display not the iPad 2 or iPad 4

This is still the best value tablet on the market. In fact it is £10 cheaper than the iPad 2 I bought just after its release and still use today. My daughter just picked up the 32gb rose gold iPad on her trip to the USA and is very satisfied with it. I intend to get the 128gb with Apple Pencil soon.

  • April Fools: get ready for the worst jokes in the tech industry

"April Fools" then continues to post links to his own previous articles. DED, you need to relax a little and stop being so defensive on everything.
How many times does this have to be said? No. One. Else. Is. Calling. Out. The. Media. The whole point of DED articles is to defend against what no one else (except the Macalope) will call out as the preposterousness that it is. The whole point of the article is to be defensive, because most normal tech media attacks Apple all the time and builds up these false narratives.
Except that DED isn't using facts. He's building his own false narratives to fit his own needs.

The regular media is NOT attacking Apple, they just aren't always shining Apple as being flawless and that rubs DED the wrong way. It's a FACT that Siri is falling behind, it's a FACT that Chromebooks never went after the enterprise market (why would they? What enterprise is going to go for a web browser based OS? It makes no sense at all).

This article is so self serving that it's not even funny.
Google have been going after enterprise for a long while.  As a member of an IT user group for a local authority, Google have been trying to get us to let them bring their Google bus to demo their products for several years now.
