Mike W., that's some solid detective work there!  One final step you might take is to wrap the USB-C to USB-A adapter (and the gap you noted) with a layer or two of aluminum foil and then re-check the attenuation. If it works, as I suspect it may, then this would also provide a simple and inexpensive solution for those having a bunch of similar adapters, even if cosmetically sad.  I'm not having the wifi-attenuation issue myself, so I can't check it.

Surely Apple wouldn't call them "smart glasses" but instead choose "iGLASSES" (eye-glasses).  8)

Power Button Mini ..simple solution. Cut a 1/2 " piece of plywood in a circle to match to bottom of the Mac Mini, paint it black, and problem solved. It raises the Mini enough to allow access for your finger.

 Easier alternatives to cutting & painting plywood: 

• Coaster from the decorative set you were gifted 15 Christmases ago; 
• Inverted saucer from the ugly dish-set grandma gave you when you went off to college; 
• Bible you were given as a child and never read; 
• Random bathroom tile you've kept since that renovation; 
• Old cassette tape jewel-box saved from the landfill; 
• Metal screw-top lid from an old pickle jar heretofore used to collect interesting pennies; 
• That "emergency pack" of cigarettes lingering in your junk drawer since you kicked the habit 20 yr ago.
