  • Apple surrenders one hour of profit to Russia for antitrust violations

there are a lot of consumers in Russia who are not like Putin and who shouldn't be considered as such.
Sadly, that doesn't seem to be the case. Support for war is very high in Russia. The population is thoroughly brainwashed.

  • Apple has two big CarPlay problems

    AppleZulu said:
So… the biggest problem with CarPlay is apparently that a third-party developer made a sub-par app.

This is apparently Apple’s fault because they haven’t somehow forced the third-party developer to make improvements to its app.
This is an app that is advertised and distributed by Apple. Apple's claim against third party app stores is that they are somehow protecting us from poor quality apps. They aren't. The apps in the official App Store mostly suck.

  • Apple Music rolls out to Tesla cars in holiday software update

I would never buy a car that doesn't have CarPlay. Being beholden to an OEM to provide software updates to keep key functionality going, such as navigation, is just plain stupid. Especially when the guy you're counting on, Elon Musk, is just one marijuana hit away from making it so you have to pay $8 per month or whatever.

  • Chinese activists stage hunger strike at Apple HQ

Apple is not in a position to challenge the Chinese government. Even the US government has limited options in that respect. But it is probably a lot easier and safer to protest against Apple, even if it’s pointless.
This is of course total nonsense. Apple is free to move their production out of China any time they want. They'd rather make an extra billion or two in profit and look the other way on human rights, but that's something that can change.

  • Tony Fadell wants to see iPhone move to USB-C

The right thing to do is stick with lightening until portless. For Europe, a special iPhone can be made with the lighting port blocked. They can go portless first. Slightly slower charging but that's bout it. There would be a MagSafe to lighting adapter available to use existing peripherals, of course.
