  • Apple Music's curated music discovery feature goes live for iOS 10 beta users

Man I accidentally loaded this page with my content blocker off. Hadn't done that in years. Boy is it bad. Like really, really, bad. You can barely find the story at all!

  • 'Store' no more in rebranding of Apple retail outlets

Makes sense as no one ever says I'm going to the Target Store or Walmart Store. But I think the website should say Apple - The Domain, or Apple, The Domain. That clearly identifies it as the store name, then location.
Well because Target and Walmart are not the product as well and are officially the names of the stores. I still add the words dealer or dealership after a car brad e.g. Toyota Dealership or Ford Dealer. I guess you could say "I'm going to Toyota" or "I'm going to Ford" but it sounds a lot less formal.

Most places just differentiate their online presence from their brick and mortar by specifically adding ".com"
You can't say "I'm going to Ford" because sadly you aren't. You're dealing with a stealership, run by someone who doesn't work for Ford and who isn't accountable to either Ford or the customer. Someone who has a captive audience via geographic monopoly. If you were actually dealing with a company that could speak for itself and stand behind its products, you might be more likely to use its name. I'm going to stop by Tesla...

  • Apple CarPlay coming to higher-end models of Honda's 2017 Civic Hatchback

That is why CarPlay isn't all that great.  I can do everything with Bluetooth without having to plug in the phone to see eye-candy for a display.  All that eye-candy is probably too much of a battery drain over Bluetooth, so Apple requires the iPhone to be plugged in.
The high-quality maps that CarPlay provides are far from eye-candy- they have a real safety benefit over audio-only or looking down at your phone. They are especially good on iOS 10.

The Civic has a USB port down low in the front which is high-powered and allows rapid charging. I leave a lighting cable connected to that all the time- it takes all of three seconds to plug a phone in. After 20 minutes in the car you could either be plugged in and have a phone that is 20% more charged, or have one that is charged 10% less after running the GPS and sending video/audio over the air. When I unplug, iOS 10 marks where I left the car on the map. Pretty obvious wired is better.

  • Apple counters Australian banks' call for iPhone NFC access, cites handset security

Untrue.  If reports are correct, Apple is seeking about 50% of the interchange fee banks currently get.  With AU$2 Billion of NFC payments a week in Australia - 99.9999% of which is done without Pay, there does not appear to be any issue with security that needs improving upon, so the banks don't see any reason to pay 50% of their take to Apple for no benefit.

I think there is a very simple solution to this which would be fair to all.  The banks should allow their customers to use Apple Pay if they want.  They should pay the fee Apple is asking for from the customers funds, much as many vendors pass on CC fees to customers wishing to pay that way..  The banks would not have to forego income for no benefit, those who want Apple Pay would get it.
Apple takes 0.15%. Most credit cards add 2-3% in fees. Maybe Australia is different but that is nowhere near 50%. For the small fee they do ask for, the banks get a system that is basically fraud proof- credit card fraud is a major issue. They also get a service that brings in customers. On the other hand, when banks ask for NFC access, they offer nothing in return except that they will tarnish the payment experience for Apple users.

People often misunderstood that Apple Pay is only NFC chip. What Apple protect here is their implementation of transaction or surprise, consumer's security. If you read how Apple Pay works, Apple has no access to transaction whatsover. Bank still keeping the controls of all transaction and tokenization. Apple simply play as a conduit, but a very secure conduit, compare to Samsung Pay. Which is why I stated, by giving away that particular control to bank, Apple is jeopardizing
The moment it would become known that a bank is taken security not as seriously as it should, the customer would lose the trust in the bank and would redraw all his money from the bank.
LOL. Anyone can steal your NFC Visa card and use it wherever, unlike with Apple Pay. Anyone can steal your physical MasterCard and use it online anywhere, not so with Apple Pay. The banks have always and continue to provide solutions that offer inferior security to the best available and nobody withdraws their money. The reason Apple gets a cut from Apple Pay is because the banks can easily afford it with all the fraud Apple Pay prevents. Think first, talk later please.
