  • Apple TV+ launches on November 1, for $4.99 per month

Curious to get more details about the iPhone/Apple TV offer. Like if I buy a new iPhone on October an I eligible or only new phones bought after launch? Also, do people in the iPhone upgrade program get to be considered as buying a new phone & qualifying for the free service?
It’s all explained here: https://www.apple.com/apple-tv-plus/ You can buy the product as soon as it’s available and still get your free year’s subscription on November 1. And, it’s $4.99 for a family subscription. There’s no specific mention of trade-ins but I’d imagine they’re covered, too. It looks as though Apple is aiming to get a very large base of subscribers from the get-go!

  • Apple's 'By Innovation Only' new iPhone event is on Sept. 10

That's a daring title on the invite.

Perhaps the fruity logo will make a return!

Seriously, putting 'innovation' in there perhaps means there really is some meat in there with the potatoes after all.
I totally misread that as ‘By invitation only’.

  • Rumor: iPad Pro with triple-lens camera, iPad with dual-lens shooter to launch in October

Personally, I'd value FaceID more than a better camera in an iPad.  Much more utility.

I was recently on a trip that included some of the most famous and most visited tourist attractions in Europe.  Didn't see a single person taking pictures with an iPad.

Not "very popular" in my experience.
Obviously, the iPad is relatively unwieldy. But, with such a gorgeous and large display it makes a lot of sense to use it for images that you would like to work on immediately:  markup, editing and so on. I can see some very clear use cases for this. And, yes, I’ve taken dozens (if not many more) photos on my iPad Air 2 over the years.

What’s the need for this? People don’t take pictures with their iPads
    You’re kidding, right?

Apart from Imelda Staunton, US audiences will have never heard of the other two actors mentioned above.
Hardly a recepie for success is it?
Where is the US Star? (or Starlet?)
Are the three brits going to play baddies?
    {Yes I know that I'm stereotyping}

This may play well here in the UK (if it is shown on BBC and not on some Pay-per-View channel) but unless the script is top notch it may well struggle.

    Only time will tell eh?
I’m kinda tired of all the declarations, yours included, of failure being made about Apple’s entry into this market. There has been a nonstop deluge of hateful and negative opinions about what Apple intends to do in these forums any time the subject arises. All I can do is remind you of the same predictions of abject failure for every product or service Apple has ever put forth that turned into resounding successes. Why can’t we just sit back and see what happens instead of trashing it and dooming it to failure without even giving it a chance?
    Ping? HomePod? Siri?
Ping, yes. It clearly was not a success. HomePod? Too soon to tell (and we’re still in the first generation). Siri is getting steadily better and is already quite good (I use it every day a maybe switching to the Irish voice will improve for you!). So, one out of three from your list qualifies as a definite ‘failure’. The fate of the others remains open, it would seem.
