  • Apple TV+ drama 'Foundation' to become Ireland's biggest-ever production

There is no "southern" Ireland. Troy Studios is not in "southern" Ireland. Troy Studios is located in Limerick, Ireland.  That other place is part of England.
    Errrr? Nope. Being pedantic...

Troy Studios is not in "southern" Ireland. Troy Studios is located in Limerick, Republic of Ireland.  That other place is part of "The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland".

Come on. So many of us living here use the phrase ‘southern Ireland’ to refer to the Republic. It’s a simple way to distinguish it from Northern Ireland. It’s no big deal. I’ve lived a few miles south of the border for most of my life and this phrase is used frequently. We regularly say ‘The North’ as a shorthand, too.

Of course there is. Those of us who live in southern Ireland, especially along the border, use the term regularly. It’s just a quick way to differentiate between the Republic and Northern Ireland. Now, let’s get back to the main topic... Foundation is coming and it’s being produced here! Wow! I loved this series as a teenager. I just hope this is a great production.

  • Apple rolls out improved Maps to all users in the US

    1) I've been using the new Maps since last year and I still haven't been able to find the Look Around option. Are these as limited as FlyOver despite all those Apple Maps cars I've seen in my area over the years?

    2) I wish Apple Maps used the maps.apple.com website. If you export a location and try to open it in a browser that can call one of their apps it will send yo to maps.google.com. Maybe it's too much work and cost, but I'd think users being able to choose Apple Maps in the browser would help keep users data more private and show that Apple Maps is an excellent alternative. There could even be Android users that don't want to switch to an iPhone because they're under the impression that Apple Maps isn't good.
I can help you with your first point. Look Around only works in a few cites/locations. (From the article: “New York City, the San Francisco Bay Area, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Houston, Oahu, and more”.). Look Around only works in Map or Transport view, not in Satellite view. I hope this helps. You have to pinch in a certain degree before the binoculars (symbol for Look Around) appear.

  • HomePod lands in India 23 months after launch

So, it’s now available in 12 countries, right? US, Canada, Australia, UK, France, Germany, Medico, Spain, China (including Hong Kong), Japan, Taiwan and India. This was released almost 2 years ago, in February 2018. I’d love to understand the reason for this. Has any other piece of Apple hardware had such an extremely slow rollout? Even the original iPhone was faster than this and it was quite slow, too!
Don’t mind me. I just wish this, and all Apple products, launched early in Ireland...or launched here at all! (Still waiting for Visual Voicemail - announced in January 2007)

Always on Apple Watch is a deal maker for me, as I was holding out for this... I think Series 5 will outsell expectations... Now the harder choice is stainless steel or titanium... price is very close.
And they’ve doubled the capacity to 32 GB, too. Nice.
