Twitter staff nearly decimated by Musk's 'extremely hardcore' demand
Well, if the YouTube video of a day in the life of a Twitter engineer is accurate then he only needs about 1,000 workers to run the business. I love the way he is cleaning house and will rebuilt with engineers that really want to work and do not treat work like a social event with free everything. Those of us who have been in the profession for decades do not understand this millennial mindset and find it hard to believe it leads to long term success. -
Always-on iPhone 14 Pro display will feature most lock screen elements
dangaioh said:It’s about time. Apple always seems to be playing catch-up with Samsung which has had Always-on display as far back as 2016 starting with the Samsung Galaxy S7.
1) Apple will not introduce a new feature until it's near perfect, they don't strive to be the first but to provide a great user experience (Samsung obviously doesn't hold to this standard).
2) Apple has a massive R&D team developing new tech and features all the time and annually files numerous patents. Because it takes a long time from the initial prototype to a polished product doesn't mean they are not leading on the tech front.
2) Apple rolls out new features across all Pro models and or all iPhone models at once and based upon the sheer volume of devices (min 80M/year for Pro's) they need a large well-stocked supply chain (Samsung doesn't hold to this). This is a major reason OLED took so long to arrive on the iPhone. -
Former Apple retail employee auctions 'Sam Sung' business card for charity
recoveryboy said:22july2013 said:I'm surprised that this website would refer "Vancouver" without indicating whether it was "Vancouver, Washington" or "Vancouver, British Columbia."
The article is filled wall to wall with Canadian references.even the currency mentioned is Canadian dollars! There is more than enough references and context to know which Vancouver they were referring to.
In fact, if you say "Vancouver" to the vast majority of the world's population it would mean Canada to them. Who knew there was a Vancouver in the USA too!
I know most Americans think that the USA is the centre of the universe, in fact the vast majority have never been outside their home state...
...sounds like you might be one of them...
ߙ覬t;/div>Meanwhile in Europe we have the opposite happening in that 40% of EU residents have never been outside their own country. (These countries are equivalent sizes of the states in the USA and their are almost no restrictions on travel). -
Apple 'Studio Display Pro' delayed until October, according to display analyst
So since these displays are already very expensive why are they being made in China where labor savings are minimal and there are currently major supply chain issues and will continue for the foreseeable future. The labor savings on such an expensive item has to be rather minimal and it seems like a great opportunity for Apple to move some production away from this unfriendly country. -
Germany wants Apple to offer iPhone updates and parts for 7 years
This is a proposal from people whom do not understand consumer electronics or economics. Who in the world would want to repair a 7, 6 or even 5 year old phone or tablet? The repair cost would exceed the device value or at best be a wash. Typical European government wanting to interfere with the free market - the nanny state always goes too far. Do these “geniuses” ever think that maybe one could buy a used 6 year old phone or tablet for a lot less than it would take to repair the same device. This is a brain dead proposal from the Germans.
