  • Jon Stewart reveals the moment things went bad with Apple

Didn't Apple air a show where the heroine ignores the sponsorship directions, Lessons in Chemistry? Stewart is right, you can always go to another house and in today's world, just set up your own website. Good for him (and I do not agree with much of what he says), and us.

As a rule of thumb: stay away from any product that is subsidised by another service or product, like ad-funded TV, ad-funded Facebook, etc. If the product is not good enough that people will pay for it directly, then it should not exist.

  • Apple's core Calendar and Reminders apps can finally talk to each other with iOS 18

I wonder what will happen to Reminders set for a day but not a time. Setting them as All-Day events does not seem, to me, to be the best solution. We will see.
I have countless number of all day calendar events as reminders. The most common is probably a monthly account reminder on a specific day, but I also have many household reminders that come up every week to every x-days, y-weeks, or z-days, or even annually. There are also others that are all day, annual reminders of some event on a given day.
Of course we all have some of those. But if you have a list of 20 tasks to be done in one day, you don’t want them all displayed as All Day Tasks, I don’t think. Maybe there will be in all Day Task set as “Reminders” or “Your Tasks for the day”. What do I know?

  • Apple stock hits new record high after Apple Intelligence reveals

If Apple Intelligence delivers (it’s an “if” since app developers need to deliver, too), it will drive the biggest iPhone upsell cycle in the history of the firm.

  • Sherlocked by Sequoia: What apps Apple may have killed in macOS and iOS 18

Appointments and tasks are not separate things. Ask anyone that has to complete one or more tasks on a day that is full of appointments.

This integration will bring me back to Calendar and Reminders.

  • Siri is reborn in iOS 18 -- everything Apple's voice assistant will be able to do

Very little of this seems to be “AI”.

What would be true AI is if we could develop Shortcuts using natural language. For example: Siri, Write a Shortcut that starts the Workout Outside Walk when I enter Hyde Park and it is between 08:00 and 10:00 on a weekday morning; and open the Podcast app on my Apple Watch if I am carrying my AirPods with me”.

    That’s AI.
