  • Apple Watch Series 9 & second Apple Watch Ultra will be significant upgrades

We consider new colours, an improved heart rate sensor, and improved Find My "significant" upgrades now? I remember when significant meant things like mobile calling capability.

  • Apple arguing iMessage isn't big enough to be EU gatekeeper service

Strange that the EU would use an absolute number of monthly users as a gatekeeper definition, instead of a normal marketshare assessment. What if these 45 million users all use five messaging apps in equal proportion - by definition, not all five messaging apps can be gatekeepers. I don't think iMessage will be a gatekeeper App.

In any case, WhatsApp, Signal and Telegram are widely used in Europe, few users would miss iMessage, they'd just switch to WhatsApp. WhatsApp is well integrated with other Apple Apps. Heck, my iPhone already picks WhatsApp as the default for dictated messages already, even though I prefer iMessage.

  • Withings updates its ScanWatch lineup with ScanWatch 2, ScanWatch Light

If you've got an Apple home or business, you want the Apple Watch. I don't know why you'd buy this one.
Just as an additional watch for when you don't want to wear the Apple Watch (which can be for many reasons, including just being bored wearing the same watch every day) but that still transfers key health data to the Health App and notifies you of calls and texts.  Unfortunately, this watch looks a bit too cheap, I'd prefer a larger, thicker, casing, and just a bit more oomph. The Scan Watch Horizon is OK'ish, but the LED screen is still ugly. Like a Seiko or Casio with these features? I will wait....

These watches look great on pictures but a bit cheap in real life (especially the LED hole), I never see them in the wild. Shame because I would love a smart (as in good-looking) watch every now and then that still transfers health data to the Health app.

    Can history be copyrighted?
Arguably, it should be. Historic accounts always only show one narrative of history, so that particular narrative should be copyrighted. It takes effort to piece together individual bits of information and data into one coherent historic narrative - the documented result of doing so should be protected. (Witness the painstakingly long and contentious process of establishing the timeline and events of only a few hours during January 6th).
