UK Apple TV viewers blocked from seeing key football match
cogitodexter said:This would most likely only affect people who have 'cut the cord' and no longer receive broadcast signals via aerials, satellite or cable and thus think they don't need to pay the mandatory UK TV Licence fee. Since watching any form of live-broadcast TV, however it's delivered, including online, requires a TV licence, most of the people inconvenienced by this will likely not have much of a leg to stand on to complain.
Luckily, I remembered that my "Smart" TV also had and ITV Player, and luckily that one worked.
But then luck ran out and England won. -
Apple's iOS 15, macOS Monterey simulates Spatial Audio for stereo content
Thanks you. But I think the marketing materials and the implementation are unclear. The toggle is Spatial Audio on/of, but it actually turns on Atmos (sounds come from everywhere). I wish I could just select Spatial Audio without Atmos …. Would have preferred a three-way toggle, like we have for noise cancellation: Off - Spatial Audio - Atmos. Listening to the Atmos gimmicks is really distracting.

What is the difference between Spatial Audio and Atmos? I thought Spatial Audio was virtualising sound coming from the front or from the device; and Atmos was the virtualisation of “3D” sound. So would it be possible to have Spatial Audio without Atmos when listening to Music? When watching movies on an iPhone I get Spatial Audio (sound coming from the front) but not Atmos (when will we get that)? And on a related note: does the Apple TV already have Spatial Audio for AirPods Pro? Will it get Atmos for AirPods Pro? -
Apple Music announces Lossless Audio, Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmos

I own 2 and going completely against conventional wisdom (don’t buy a discontinued tech product) I’d like to buy 1 or 2 more. But, especially now, I’m not willing to pay more than $200 for one. So here I am trolling the local classifieds looking for <$200 HomePods daily…
I doubt lossless would make a big difference to what you hear on a homepod but I do look forward to giving the Atmos stuff a whirl.
As far as I can tell, Atmos Music will only work on specific ear- and headphones, and on the built-in speakers, not when using AirPlay. So, so, so weird to discontinue HomePods. Also because we know that HomePods can process Atmos wirelessly, no upgrade would have been required!
