After Google+ is shut down, the company should purge its servers of all user data. Users, whether knowingly or not, traded their personal data to Google in exchange for services that it rendered. Now that Google has backed out of its commitment to provide services, it should disgorge all of the personal data that it collected and exposed to hackers. We should also consider the lesson of this experience before handing personal data over to future Google ventures, Facebook and other data accumulators. The services they promise have a limited value over a limited duration, whereas their use of our personal data is limited neither by application nor duration.

Apple could make an modified iPhone X-Max without a cellular chip to replace the iPad Mini.

It is interesting to consider that of the key 21st century technologies shown in the chart above, three of them (personal computers, smartphones, tablet computers) took on their modern shapes at Apple. Apple Watch, AirPods and (someday) Apple Glasses may be just as important for the era of wearable computers.

I have a hard time believing that policy makers would be dumb enough to bet against Apple and Amazon inspecting the chips that go into their equipment. If something like this is ever documented, the company that does it will be driven into bankruptcy, and it will mark the beginning of the end for China’s electronics industry.

I would like to see a similar comparison between Bloomberg’s incremental costs versus the price charged by that company for an annual subscription to its website, or to its news services. I’m pretty sure it would show that Micharel Bloomberg is more greedy than Apple.
