U.S. antitrust officials ask to be heard in Epic vs. Apple appeal
Let the courts do their job. I trust the US Judiciary, even though my trust is moot since I'm not American. Whether you like it or not, bad judgments (in the US) can be appealed, (and often are, as this one was) and if the appeal goes high enough, and Congress doesn't like the judicial ruling by a federal judge, Congress can impeach and the Senate can convict. If it's a state judge (which it isn't in this case), then the US state can impeach. (Every US state except Oregon allows for impeachment of judges.) I think the US Congress has impeached over a dozen federal judges throughout history (perhaps half of them ended up with convictions.) If a judge is impeached for misdeeds on a particular case, that particular case would likely qualify for a retrial, and whichever judge took the case would likely not repeat the same misdeeds that got the former judge impeached, meaning the judgment might flip. -
Elon Musk says he talked with Apple about satellite communication
Apple probably wanted its service to fully cover Alaska. Most of Starlink's satellites do not cover Alaska because cause they are not in polar orbits. Only recently has Starlink started adding some polar orbits.

New Hue bulbs, Eve Thread switch & more on HomeKit Insider
I don't think AppleInsider should even bother talking about Matter. That's because as long as a consumer plans to stay within the Apple ecosystem, Matter-compatibility in devices doesn't matter. All that matters is HomeKit compatibility (and for cameras, HomeKit Secure Video compatibility.) Just make sure that you don't install the manufacturer's app, which could add extra features but could potentially compromise your data (especially for camera devices, although Matter doesn't support cameras yet, and won't support them for years.)
One thing we can't predict is whether manufacturers will remove labels like "HomeKit compatible" and "Amazon compatible" and simply say "Supports Matter." The consumer might not be knowledgeable and confident enough to buy products without the name of their ecosystem on the box. My opinion is that they will continue to include ecosystem compatibility labels for years to come, until the majority of consumers are sufficiently educated that all they need to look for is "Supports Matter."
I'm wondering at what point in the future companies like AppleInsider will stop saying "HomeKit compatible" and start saying "Matter compatible." Their readers are more educated than the average consumer, so they could stop talking about HomeKit-compatibility much sooner. In fact, they may soon have to rename their other podcast from "HomeKit Insider" to "Matter Insider." They probably should reserve the new name now. -
The Apple Car is highly rated by possible buyers before it exists
lkrupp said:22july2013 said:I was already preferring (and eager) to buy an Apple Car back in 2017, and was forced to buy something else instead. At least I got CarPlay. However now I live in a condo where I can't install an electric power station required for an all-electric car, so I wouldn't be able to own an electric vehicle anymore. You pretty much need your own garage to own an electric car, which leaves out roughly half the population (mostly the poorer half.) -
