  • 'Sign in with Apple' mandatory for all apps with third-party sign-in options

I'm with all of you on this. But Apple may be thwarted. Perhaps legally, or perhaps commercially. Legally because it might be perceived as monopolistic. Consider this: could Apple get away with saying all web browsers on macOS  have to include a special menu bar with buttons that say "Sign in with Apple", "Buy with Apple", "Play on Apple Music", etc.? Well, macOS only runs on Mac hardware, so why not? Mac hardware is still a small minority of hardware out there. This is exactly the kind of behaviour that might make the EU courts more seriously consider if Apple is imposing undue burdens on developers of software for their app stores.

To be honest, I'm perplexed by Apple's move. Because it doesn't feel necessary. I think Apple would win this war hands down. They don't need an army on their side here, they've got God on their side already here.

I didn't mention why Apple could be defeated commercially here. I'll not explain that to make y'all think. Just remember, there are commercial forces even bigger than Apple in this world.

  • HomeKit will securely store videos in iCloud, explicit router support coming

Although the Apple slide said "ten day recording" I listened carefully to the presentation and Craig said "storage of ten days of clips will be included in your existing iCloud account and it won't count against your storage." By using the words "clips" is apparently means that that ten days is for video motion occurrences only. That's a lot better than nothing but it is a little disappointing. Hopefully we can control the amount of motion required to generate a clip. Details are not yet clear. The AppleInsider article text says "ten days of running recording" but I think that's a big mistake. Based on Craig's words, it's ten free days of clips created by motion detection.

  • iTunes social media blackout hints at app break-up at WWDC

I've been a supporter of Apple since the late 1990s but every Apple Mouse variation and every instance of iTunes I have totally despised. It would take me several pages of text to tell you how much and why I despise them. With iTunes gone, hopefully that solves one of these two problems.

  • Honey I Shrunk the Chips: How die shrinks help make processors more powerful

It is actually the Dutch company ASML that builds the chipmachines (wafers) for clients like Samsung, TSMC and Intel that make rhe shrinking design possible.
Interesting. Does that mean Samsung/TSMC isn't actually self-sufficient? It needs Western tech to survive? I thought We needed Them to survive.

  • 'Gaming disorder' on iPhone & other platforms recognized by World Health Organization

My problem with this article is that the link provided takes me to a page that does not have the quote indicated, nor does searching their website find the quote. Can anyone find the page?

On another issue, my problem with this study is that there doesn't seem to be some objective measurement of the condition. Are we lay people not qualified to make the assessment? Is it really a subjective assessment in the hands of a few professionals? I mean, what does "to the exclusion of other daily activities" mean? Which activities? Is this a totally subjective disease?

On another issue, could an American (I am not American) living with this disease be denied access to a gun?
