  • Apple to increase starting pay for hourly workers to $22 per hour

    Paul_B said:
Dang. That's some amazing money for retail.
I was making about US$8/hr in the mid 80s, directly after earning my degree in computer science. Since the dollar was worth about 3x as much then as it is now, that's the same effective salary as I was making. No degree needed anymore. Nice work if you can get it.

What did you do with your Computer Science degree? Sell Lemonade?  Because the most Computer Science advancements were actually in the 80s, including the Operating System you are currently using.  The rest are just blocks added to the fundamental.
OP clearly stated the $8.00 was the wage they received directly after earning a degree in the mid 80's, which equates to about a $24.00 an hour starting wage today. Which is nothing to scoff at. What does it matter if the advancements in computer science were made in the 80's, that doesn't mean the salaries immediately went way up in direct response to those advancements?

It's as if you took as swipe at the OP for making $8.00 an hour with a computer science degree and I am not sure why? :/

"What did you do with your Computer Science degree? Sell Lemonade"?

  • Apple Stores start accepting Tap to Pay across US

    mike1 said:

In Apple Stores, it means that staff should be able to retire the current "Isaacs," the modified iPhones with a secondary device attached for taking credit cards. Now any iPhone running the latest version of iOS will be able to accept transactions through Tap to Pay.

You're kidding, right? Because nobody is going to want to pay for something with a credit card using the more traditional methods.
Contactless ( Tap to Pay ) is available with physical credit cards as well. My recently replaced Chase Visa card has the Tap to Pay "sideways wifi" symbol and it was on the paperwork that came with the card. I would imagine eventually all cards will have this functionality. Similar to chip cards doing away with having to swipe and garbage magnetic strips.

  • Elon Musk temporarily halts Twitter deal over user metrics

Smart man. No one wants to purchase problems. Have the current leaders fix it before purchase.

Same as buying a house or car.

Spam accounts are a huge problem that need resolution ASAP.

God, the mystique.  I can't even.

He knew about it.  Everyone knew the numbers.  The public knew the numbers.  People who read THIS site knew the numbers.  He's using it as an excuse.  He's testing to see exactly how criminal he can be and still not suffer any consequences.
Yes the numbers were given at the annual earnings report so everyone who wanted to know, knows. It wasn't a question of having the info, but was/is it correct..

"In making this determination, we applied significant judgment," said the report, "so our estimation of false or spam accounts may not accurately represent the actual number of such accounts, and the actual number of false or spam accounts could be higher than we have estimated."

This quote doesn't exactly represent itself as the picture of accuracy and honesty? B)

For the record I am not a Musk fan..just stating what I read here on AI...

  • Steve Jobs wanted no SIM slot on the original iPhone, says Tony Fadell

No way they would remove the sim slot. Everyone in Asia has multiple SIM cards would kill the product dead.
eSIM.. you can use multiple eSIM's with iPhone 13 currently. You can use only one eSIM another physical nano-SIM in earlier models.

Using Dual SIM with an eSIM

An eSIM is a digital SIM that allows you to activate a cellular plan from your carrier without having to use a physical nano-SIM. With iPhone 13 Pro Max, iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 13, and iPhone 13 mini, you can use Dual SIM with either two active eSIMs or a nano-SIM and an eSIM. iPhone 12 models, iPhone 11 models, iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR, feature Dual SIM with a nano-SIM and an eSIM.1

  • Apple may release a cheaper Apple TV streaming device in 2022, says Kuo

I'd at least like the option of buying the Apple TV WITHOUT the overpriced $59 remote and just use the one already built into the phone.
I have used Apple Tv's exclusively for years now.. Using your phone as the sole remote would get old pretty darn QUICK! Haha  No way!

It sounds reasonable when you aren't actually forced to use it constantly. No volume control for the receiver, TV or soundbar with the phone. Just too large to be comfortably used with one hand like a Siri remote. I use a 13 Pro Max so maybe it would be a tiny bit easier with a smaller phone?

It's not as if the remote is flimsy plastic garbage... It's sturdy aluminum..easy to find ( unlike the nightmarish 1st gen )  and worked with my 1st gen 4k ATV's with no issue. It allows touch/swipe function like the 1st gen or if you prefer straight use of the buttons to navigate. If it hits the floor no glass to break.. I love them! B)

I was able to get them at $53.00 a piece using perkspot through work so it was a win win for me B) Good quality remote and the wonderful feeling of knowing I would NEVER have to use that 1st gen remote ever again.
