    That's like buying their flagship AirPods Max, then less than six months later, them releasing their flagship lossless audio that doesn't work with them.
    Doesn't work makes it seem as though the AP Max's can't play these tracks at all which is not true.. it also makes it seem as if they some how playback these tracks will be in noticeably less fidelity which is also false.  It's doesn't default to a lesser lossy format because it goes back from analog to digital? That seems to be how people are taking this information. I would challenge any person believing this to point out the finite differences between an analog 24-bit / 48 kHz track vs a re-converted digital 24-bit / 48 kHz track. B)

    I think it was a ??? decision for Apple to use the lightning connection in this way that forces the analog to be turned back into digital..when they KNOW how customers and the internet would respond to a perceived shortcoming at this price point. I also don't think it's as big of a deal as folks believe it to be from a quality to quality perspective.

    Honestly if you are into that type of critical listening you aren't looking at any wireless headphone whether it can be wired or not.

That re-digitization step is the reason that Apple can’t say you’re hearing pure lossless audio; it’s not an identical match to the source

    The Lightning to 3.5 mm Audio Cable was designed to allow AirPods Max to connect to analog sources for listening to movies and music. AirPods Max can be connected to devices playing Lossless and Hi-Res Lossless recordings with exceptional audio quality. However, given the analog-to-digital conversion in the cable, the playback will not be completely lossless.

  • Mini LED coming to 11-inch iPad Pro in 2022, Kuo says

    Simple:  OLED can experience burn-in of graphics that appear for long periods of time. Also, and related, the”O” stands for organic.  Organic compounds usually don’t have the lifespan of inorganic compounds. In OLED, blue has a much shorter lifespan than Red and Green. This could lead to color fading and inaccurate color over time—YMMV.  
    The biggest advantage of Mini and Micro LED can be in brightness. OLED can achieve up to 1,000 nits of brightness, while inorganic Mini and Micro LEDs can emit up to 5,000 nits of brightness Mini LEDs can approach the blacks of OLED depending on the resolution used for backlighting ( which is getting higher all the time). Micro LEDs match OLEDs in blackness values. So, contrast ratios can be much higher with Mini and Micro LEDs, compared to OLED due to the higher brightness. 

    They’re getting really good results with Mini-LED. Plus it’s a run-up to Micro-LED, in a not obvious way—more in manufacturing than in as a back light for a group of pixels vs. a light for each subpixel of R,B,G,G respectively. 
    With the current OLED displays I do not think that burn in is a nearly the issue it was a few years ago.  That was everyone's big fear with Plasma's once upon a time also. They developed pixel orbiting and an all white screen wipe that took care of any ghosting or image retention. I owned 3 Panasonic plasma purchased  through the years of 2009 - 2013 and all three are still being used today by family members with no burn in issues. With my P50s60 from 2013 being used for pretty heavy gaming on a daily basis by 2 teenagers still no burn in and colors and picture look fantastic. Plasma was also supposed to lose color and brightness through use as well and I haven't seen any of that with these displays. 

    I also think the biggest advantage of ANY LED tv is brightness vs OLED not just Mini LED.  This was the what LG tried to address this year with it's new Evo Panels.. increased brightness. LG G1, C1 and Sony's A90j and A80j have gotten great reviews this year with the noticeable increased brightness I believe they claim a 20% increase. Also the nit #'s you give are peak brightness meaning this brightness level is only achievable for a very short time period over a small portion of the panel. . On average pre Evo planes OLED do around 200 nits of sustained brightness with LED being able to do around 800 nits sustained. 

    Coming from Plasma my biggest issue with Mini LED or any LED is ghosting/blooming in very dark scenes. I love the brightness and color pop of HDR on my LCD tv's for sure, but the ghosting during dark scenes is distracting and takes away from a very nice picture IMHO.  B)

    11in iPad Pro does not have the Mini LED screen. That is only available for the 12.9in model.


    I have the 11in 2020 Pro and would love to see an upgraded screen on the smaller size.

    THANK YOU APPLE - For Finally Laying that Out!

    The Libertarian / Free to do whatever I want crowd always tends to ignore the consequences of their actions.

    In this case, Apple's review and oversight of apps adds stability and security to my iPhone that I simply cannot get any other way.   So again, Thank You Apple.

    Some might argue:  Well give the user the Choice!   But that's another bullshit argument.
    Once Apple allows sideloading, more and more vendors will simply avoid the hassle and expense of going through the app store -- and iOS will become as porous, unreliable and insecure as Android or Windows.

    While some might scream:  "Don't take away my free choice!"
    I say:   "Don't take away my reliability and security!"
    This is the biggest point. Folks want to side load and do things, but if they brick the device or lose data.... Even worse if they have their credit or bank info stolen they will want/expect Apple to be responsible. Outside of this forum there are a LOT of folks that want to do what they want and not be responsible for the consequences. This is coming from someone who jail broke his phones for years, not to steal apps but to customize ( I still miss no slow animations and Barrel installed on my home screen ). Eventually Apple gave me most of what I wanted in IOS and I realized how much more advanced hackers and thieves had become, so I stopped jail breaking and stuck with stock IOS.
