  • Congress members demand Apple exit China in letter to Tim Cook

All four are Republicans. All four voted against an investigation of the January 6th insurrection at the U.S. Capitol. That gives you an idea of how deep their support of "democratic principles" actually goes.
That’s because the investigation into January 6 is nothing but a sham. It’s just another election issue for the Democrats. Believe me, they don’t want what really happened coming out. It wasn’t an insurrection. It wasn’t an attempt to overthrow the government. It was a few hundred idiots who got out of control, some bad actors and even some on the other side of the political spectrum who infiltrated the group. There were no weapons found. It was planned mostly on Twitter and Facebook. None of the fatalities had anything to do with violence. This is just an excuse to continue locking down the capitol and silence conservatives.  We can expect more of this as we approach the midterms. The Democrats know it is likely to be an electoral bloodbath for them.
Is the only thing considered a weapon a gun? Less then lethal weapons can kill or seriously hurt someone just like a gun. If you insult someone and they beat you down with a bat is that bat considered a weapon?  An officer was hit with and killed by a fire extinguisher.. is that extinguisher a weapon?

    weap·on
    /ˈwepən/
    noun
    noun: weapon; plural noun: weapons
a thing designed or used for inflicting bodily harm or physical damage.

Are explosives were planted near the capitol considered a weapon?  I think the FBI may have a different idea what is or isn't a weapon..smh.

Like wtf are you talking about? Stop defending this bullshit please...

  • AirPods Max won't support Apple Music lossless over Lightning, HomePod also left out

I’m guessing I’m late to the table here but I don’t understand why HomePod and HomePod mini would not receive an update in order to benefit from spatial audio.

Spatial Audio: AirPods Max use spatial audio with dynamic head tracking to place sounds virtually anywhere in a space — delivering an immersive, theaterlike experience for content recorded in 5.1, 7.1, and Dolby Atmos. Using the gyroscope and accelerometer in AirPods Max and iPhone or iPad, spatial audio tracks the motion of a user’s head as well as the device, compares the motion data, then remaps the sound field so it stays anchored to the device, even as the user’s head moves.

I think the need of the Gyroscope and Acceletometer is also the reason there is no spatial audio with Apple tv as well?

The gyroscope and accelerometer are only relevant to surround sound when watching movies on your iPhone or iPad. The AirPods Pro and Max communicate with your iPhone and iPad to determine its location and orient the surround audio to the screen. So even if you turn your head, the sound stays positioned to the action onscreen, just as if you are in a movie theater.

Because your AppleTV device can be placed anywhere in the room, regardless of where your TV screen is, AirPods Pro and Max don't have any sure way to know where the screen is in order to orient spatial audio to that screen. Further complicating matters, the listener can be positioned anywhere in the room in relation to the TV screen, and probably rarely directly front-and-centered, so getting it right seems unlikely without further tech. So they just don't turn headphone spatial audio on for AppleTV, because it would have a high fail rate when trying to properly orient the sound.

None of that matters for spatial audio for music, however, because there's no picture to which the sound needs to relate. As such, the gyroscope and accelerometer won't be involved for Apple Music spatial audio. Instead, the surround sound in your ear buds or earphones will just be oriented around where your ears are. If you turn your head, the music should turn with you, just as it does now for stereo music.
I pictured Spatial audio for music being able to use the sound stage of music the same as a movie. Keep the audio centered and give it location the same as the screen you are looking at when watching a movie. If you turn your head the the sound shifts appropriately as if you are in front of the band, orchestra etc.. and just assumed you would need the same tech to achieve this with music as well.

Thanks for clearing it up for me.. B)

I was actually reading about it oh WhatHIFI after seeing your comment. I see the updated device list shows ATV ( Music Only ).

    iPhone 7 or later
iPad Pro 12.9‑inch (3rd generation and later)
    iPad Pro 11‑inch
iPad Air (3rd generation and later)
    iPad (6th generation and later)
    iPad mini (5th generation)
MacBook Pro (2018 model and later)
    Apple TV (Music only)

  • Apple Music announces Lossless Audio, Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmos

Really pleased to hear lossless audio and Atmos Support is coming to Apple Music - but without a way to get it on your hifi, amp, or receiver natively - like Spotify connect does, then Apple Music is always going to be on the back foot. Airplay is not a solution for getting Lossless audio on your AMP as it won't be lossless anymore.

Apple Music on the Appletv 4k via HDMI connected directly to your receiver or amp? Both the 5th gen ATV 4k and the newest models list ALAC, FLAC and Dolby Atmos under compatible audio codecs.

You could also load the Lossless files to a compatible IOS device and use a lightning to 3.5mm cable to connect to a non HDMI device for playback.

  • Apple scrambled to convince Netflix to keep in-app subscriptions

Yeah, because what I (and every other Apple customer) want are more hackable websites to drop our credit card details into.
I had a Netflix steaming account before I had an iPhone or Appletv. I started with the Netflix app on a Samsung BluRay player I was using in my bedroom at the time and my PS3 in the living room. I never had an issue with my payments or payment info being compromised. Are you actually saying that Netflix should pay Apple 30% to take your money because you feel Apple's payment services aren't hackable? :|

Also what credit card are you using that doesn't have 100% theft protection if such a thing would happen?

  • Tile CEO 'welcomes' AirTag competition from Apple's 'runaway monopoly train'

    Skeptical said:
I have to agree a bit here with the Tile dude. After a few updates, my Tile were useless for the most part. And so I switched to the AirTags. Not impressed at all. I can hold the AirTag next to the phone and it tells me the signal is weak. WTF Apple. Anyway, maybe I’m holding it wrong. Tile has nothing to worry about if this is the best that Apple cans do. Queue the fanboy flamers…

I have seen and read multiple reviews of Airtags and have not seen the issue you mention? Is it impossible to think that maybe your Airtag isn't working correctly and may need to be swapped out for another unit? I mean shit happens even with Apple products.. no? Your "maybe I am holding it wrong" comment makes me think either you're trolling or you are commenting with an ax to grind for whatever reason?

If it were me and a product didn't work I would either run to the Apple store to swap it out, or send it back for a replacement..period. Not coming on Appleinsider to make a blanket condemnation of a product because one unit isn't behaving correctly.
