  • Apple debuts $549 AirPods Max over-ear headphones

     Lightning connector - why???

I would argue that a person who would buy such headphones would more likely to have a MacBook Air/Pro and/or iPad with USB-C than not to have such devices (thus have the charger and cable for it). And the use case would be to use this headphones primarily at home or while traveling.  And more likely to use AirPods (Pro) just outside their
house on the streets or for jogging.

I was waiting for Apple to release this headphones.
But because of the lightning connector and price difference I would go with Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones 700.
You explain why Lightning was understandable, and then used it as a reason not to buy them?

  • Warner Bros' 2021 films will release simultaneously in theaters and on HBO Max

I predict a record number of 4K TVs will soon be sold.

Does HBO Max stream 8n 4K anywhere? I know in Canada, where I live, it does not.

HBO Max will stream Wonder Woman 1984 in 4K HDR, Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos

Looks like Max is finally stepping up and offering 4K.  I have been impatiently waiting for this. I like HBO Max the service and was surprised that they didn't have 4K offerings at launch. This is good news!

Don't take away income from poor people. If the you choose to manufacture in places where people are poor than overlook what's going on and let local goverment and society address it, not my investment in Apple.

Did you miss the "forced labor" part? These aren't poor people being made to work long hours. These are an ethnically targeted group of people being rounded up, thrown into "re-education" camps, and sent off to work in factories against their will.

IF it was really forced then you would be right.

But I would not trust the the U.S. Dept of Commerce to tell me what color black is -- particularly when it comes to China.   They, along with the Treasury Dept, have been the hub of implementing Trump's smear and hate campaign against China.  And now, as their end nears, they are throwing as much fuel on the flames as they can.

And, as we are seeing so clearly now with our election, these clowns rely on allegations rather than evidence to complete their mission:   take down China.

The U.S. Dept of Commerce is one of many U.S. government agencies that will need to be decontaminated and depoliticized.
Right on cue. @georebmac in to save the day for poor old China that just has a stellar track record when it comes to human rights. I’ve been wondering, back when they had the one child rule, and mothers had the option to either kill their baby girl or put the up for adoption to countries like the US, what was your defense back then?   :D

Right on cue another China Hater pops up from under his rock to condemn China for something Trump's shills have accused them of....

When was the last time China put kids in cages, killed over 1/4 million of its citizens, encouraged and supported NeoNazis and gunned down unarmed black men?  What was your defense back then?  Oh yeh!   Blame China!
Neither does Trump.  Cages -- Obama. Those famous pics are from Obamas time.  The US nor Trump has not killed 1/4 of its citizens.   Trump has not supported Neonazis.  Your Charlottesville fantasies have been thoroughly debunked.  Unarmed black man are not being gunned down innocently or at higher rates than any other unarmed men.  In fact, white men are more likely to be shot by police in any given encounter with the police per govt statistics.

Your total claims and life assumptions are totally unsupportable and incorrect.

And about the China forced labor of the Muslim groups.  My wife regularly reads Japanese news through Twitter and regularly shows me news articles about this that have nothing to do with the US Govt or Trump.   You really should seek counseling and help for your irrational Trump hatred and fears.

The research is clear: White people are not more likely than Black people to be killed by police

Number of people shot to death by the police in the United States from 2017 to 2020, by race

The rate of fatal police shootings among Black Americans was much higher than that for any other ethnicity, standing at 33 fatal shootings per million of the population as of November 2020.

As a man of color I ask you to please open your eyes. Not all cops are bad and not all are profiling and targeting Black Americans and I don't agree with the Police defunding nutters, but your comment above regarding shootings is just plain wrong.

My other half is doing a contact tracing and follow up study for the Dept of Health here in PA. The # 1 driving reason that black men don't want to wear masks during COVID even though they know it helps is fear of police while wearing a mask, and going out and about in public with a mask on for fear of reaction of other people or police. They are more inclined to wear N95's or those one use medical masks as opposed to Gators or anything made outside of the medical or professional industry. That is one of the saddest things I have ever heard.

I do agree with George's irrational defense of China and anyone that defies his ideas is labeled a Trumper or brainwashed by Trump. I just posted about this a couple of days ago.

  • Apple forced to include charger with iPhone in Sao Paulo

I have around seven lightning to USB-A cables with wall plugs lying around which work fine. I have another couple of QI chargers.

The vast majority of iPhone 12 buyers will also have plenty of existing cables and compatible chargers. The addition of the lightning to USB-C cable in the box provides the option to plug into a recent MacBook that many may not have already, and it doesn’t implicitly require an extra charging brick.

So it depends how you look at it. I see it as a positive.
I thought the same until I left my 12 Pro Max to charge and update overnight on a 5W charger, only to be told in the morning that the update couldn't be completed because it wasn't connected to a power supply. Give it a try.
So there is something wrong with the brick or wire? There is a chime, quick vibration and icon to let you know the phone is charging?  If you didn't verify that I am not sure what you're point is?

The Chinese people, contrary to right wing propaganda, seem to be far happier with their government than we here in the U.S.  The Chinese aren't the ones talking about civil war, sending armed militias to invade state government houses and kidnapping their leaders -- or coups to overturn their government.

Responsible, ethical leadership doesn't depend on the form of government.
    • The 1 million Chinese people currently interred in concentration camps simply because they  happen to be Uygur ethnic Muslims would disagree with you.
    • The 8 million people of Hong Kong who are seeing their rights removed by the Chinese Communist Party reneging on the 1997 handover deal would disagree with you.
    • The 3 million Tibetans whose country is illegally occupied by China would disagree with you.
    • The 24 million people of Taiwan who live with the constant threat of being attacked and invaded by China would also probably disagree with you about China.
    • India and Bhutan who have suffered border incursions by the Chinese military would also disagree.
    • As would most nations with territorial waters in the South China Sea who see China attempting to claim sovereignty over their UN recognised territory waters would disagree with you about Chinese good governance.

The Chinese people don’t talk about their unhappiness with their government because all media and communications is monitored. Even the slightest dissent will see a person imprisoned in a Mao-style reeducation camp.

You probably thought the Soviet Union was the ‘workers paradise’ it claimed to be too...

Yeh, if you believe the propaganda from the China haters that Trump spawned.
As for Hong Kong and Taiwan:  they are part of China not independent.   Hong Kong succumbed to foreign interference to generate insurrection and revolt.   For over a year China tolerated it -- till it started disrupting society too much -- then they quelled it.   Currently the U.S. is trying the same trick in Taiwan. But that will have the same ending there.

China will not let the U.S. dictate their internal policies.   That frustrates and irritates those who think the U.S. rules the world and can tell others how to live their lives and run their countries.  But it is reality.   A reality that they seem incapable of grasping.

With millions unemployed,  riots in the streets, our infrastructure out of date and crumbling, our safety nets for sick, disabled and older people cracking, and our trillions of debt increasing by $3 Trillion a year one would think that the activists would be concerned about our own country.  But perhaps that's the goal:   "Hey!   Look over there!"
Normally, I would post a shit ton of links to sources from around the world, but the essence is, that GeorgeBMac is factually wrong about almost everything that he posts on China.

    It's almost like he is part of the United Front Work Department;

    https://thediplomat.com/2020/11/chinas-influence-operations-hurt-chances-for-real-engagement/

"What is more concerning from the report was the investigation identifying 600 U.S. organizations with ties to the Chinese Communist Party. More specifically, the groups were linked with the CCP’s United Front Work Department, which aims to influence foreign groups through various seemingly unaffiliated organizations. The concern is that those who engage with these organizations might be unaware of their links to the Chinese Communist Party."
This article is not specific at all. What kind of ties? What kind of links. This article does not give specific details. I think if this article give the specifics it will be very laughable.
Not to worry. I think that you are part of United Front as well, and I have stated that previously. I base this on the many comments that you have made to me in the past.

Nonetheless, I could find even more links, from many other countries experiencing the same issues with Chinese Diaspora. Australia would be a very good place to start, since the United Front Work Department has been so blatant in their actions and public responses, not to mention Official Chines Government statements.

People aren't seeing China in a good light these days, and it looks to worsen; Wolf Diplomacy and all that.

LOL....  So anybody who challenges your propaganda is part of the Chinese Communist Party which, in your mind, is equivalent to being part of the Third Reich.

    Got it.
Same applies.. Anyone that doesn't agree with your views of China.. are Trumpers or brainwashed by Trump?

I mean Hitler took advantage of democracy? Wow...smh
