  • New iPhone SE teardown reveals design nearly identical to iPhone 8

Apple could have increased screen on top side reducing it's top thick bezel, giving new identity. To me it's iPhone 8S.

It's $399.00... an new screen design would surely have driven the price up. It's a budget phone that is easy to produce with some very nice internals and good camera, just like the original SE.

So was the original SE the 5SS to you?

Ummm Apple said they passed on the Friends reunion because they wanted TV+ to be all original series'. Fraggle Rock is a reboot.

(I'm not a Friends fan just pointing out the innaccuracies)

And to beat a dead horse iPhone AGAIN proves to be a versatile and cheap tool. Same with iPad. Nowadays you can film an entire series on iPhone and edit on iPad. Both only $2000ish and can potentially return millions.

Technically a “reboot” is a retelling of an original story line and characters. This could hardly be considered that. Nor could it be considered a reunion or even a sequel. These are just familiar characters doing random things.

But certainly not any more original than a Friends reunion.

Now that I think of it Snoopy and Sesame Street characters weren't original either. I guess I'm just upset that Apple missed an opportunity to bring in millions of new subscribers with Friends and their excuse was hypocritical.

Again, not a Friends fan but I'm not gonna deny the popularity and the missed opportunity.
Because I don't want to check on it, I'll take at face value your assertion that Apple passed on the friends reunion because they want to do original series. I think I can explain the difference here. The Friends "reunion" is just that: a TV special that is a reunion of the cast of the show, reminiscing about the show. It's not a scripted reunion of the characters doing funny things together all these years later, it's an insanely well-remunerated taping of what is, in effect, a Comic-Con panel. That's not an original series by any stretch of the imagination.

I looked quickly.. It looks like they passed on buying the original series and not doing a friends reunion?  Maybe the OP saw something different?

    CUPERTINO, Calif. —

    Apple TV+ never wanted “Friends.”

At least that’s what Chief Executive Tim Cook conveyed to shareholders Wednesday after one investor asked why the iPhone giant didn’t buy the streaming rights to popular TV series “Friends” and its reunion special.

“We love ‘Friends’ but it’s not what Apple TV+ is about,” Cook said at the company’s annual shareholder meeting in Cupertino. “Apple TV+ is about original programming. It doesn’t feel right for Apple to just go out and take a rerun.”

This Fraggle Rock show is an original collection of mini episodes using the already established characters. I do agree though a flashback live reunion show is certainly not an original series at all. I also don't think skipping that is a missed opportunity at all.

Speak for yourself. The notch matters to plenty of people.
IMO that group is compromised of haters and whiners, most of which haven’t even own the device in question. Which are you?
Having a sense of taste doesn’t make me a whiner or hater. I happen to own an XS and after much use, my opinion of the notch being ugly has not changed. You on the other hand are nothing but an Apple sheeple and conformist. Everything Apple does is great, Apple could never do any wrong, and anybody who attacks what Apple says or does is a whiner or a hater. You’re as unsightly as they come.

Not everyone's taste is the same.. A matter of taste is what you find appealing obviously the notch is not to your taste. I have owned the XS Max and now the 11 Pro Max and I can honestly say I don't even notice the notch. I really thought I would coming from an 8 Plus, but it hasn't bothered or hindered me at all.

I am too busy smiling when I look at and use this sexy ass silver beauty in my clear MNML case! To my taste these phones are classy and the screen is beautiful.

I also know many folks ( family and friends )  that have the iPhone X forward and have not complained about the notch either, at least not to me? So I have a feeling that you belong to a small % of people that this actually is a thing for?  Also for the record I HATE the word sheeple.. it's like some gaslight shaming bullshit that people say when something is to their taste, and not someone else's... sound familiar?  B)

  • Apple unveils new iPhone SE priced at just $399

That looks like a nice phone. I had an SE and it was great, I used it for three and a half years. I ended on moving up to an 11 a few months ago for the improved feature set, but I do miss the small size. Love the 11s big screen, but it was nice to be able to keep the phone in my jeans pocket.
Are you using a bulky case ?  I use a clear MNML case on my 11 Pro Max and it fits comfortably in my front or rear slim fit jeans pockets.

Facebook did try the same thing, and pundits at the time made a big deal about how mini-app"bots" were going to take over and erase the App Store back in 2015-2016. That didn't happen. https://appleinsider.com/articles/16/07/10/apple-inc-and-the-bot-war-on-apps- And the story of WeChat doing the same in China was a tale already told a few years ago in 2017. It's been a story since 2011. Apple somehow still has an App Store in China. No doubt it would be larger without any competition of any kind, but this story seems overblown.

Expected, but still disappointing.  I was hoping they would pull off the surprise and have one in the original SE case with an A12 in it.  I would greatly miss the smaller size, and the flat edges.  Guess I'll have to take a look at the fall offerings.
Do you imagine that Apple does not have the data needed to know what people want? If people were buying 5" iPhones, Apple would be selling them. Nobody wants a tiny phone anymore. The SE is already a minor niche product across Apple's primary markets. The only reason for making a 5" phone would be nostalgia for a few thousand 40 year old men.
We over 40 folks need bigger/screen and fonts. Over 40 eyes catch up with us all unfortunately.

I personally think the majority of people that want a smaller phone like this or the original SE 5s design are younger ( male or female )  with smaller hands and still good eyes  Haha  At least the people I personally know that had the SE fit this demo.
