Apple Pay under scrutiny by EU for possible anti-competitive payment practices
g3. said:anantksundaram said:These stupid thumb-twiddlers who can't innovate to save their asses, going after US tech again...
Payments now. Pathetic. And ridiculous.More to say, apple pay didn’t improve “payment culture” in Europe much. When US was using swipe and sign, EU was doing chip and pin payments (more secure) and contactless payments were pretty common long before apple pay. In general, acquiring and payment services as such are more developed in EU - that’s for the innovations.
Main point is that Apple is really limiting developers to make use of NFC and deliver additional services on top of apple pay...Limiting NFC usage on it's own devices is not the same as a web browser? What next the EU will demand Apple load chrome and Firefox on their devices to make things fair for competition ? Stop with this nonsense..Also on that note I personally only use safari on my Devices because of the exact reason you mention.. Security, as well as speed and working across all of my devices. Same goes for using Apple pay on my Apple device.. I do so because I trust the security. There are a ton of other phones available that allow for different payment options via NFC or magnetic secure transmission if that is an option you need. iPhone isn't the only phone sold in the EU. -
New European tax proposals aimed at Apple, Facebook, Google & other tech giants
seanj said:The headline is wrong, the OECD isn’t a European organisation; eg USA, Canada, Mexico, Australia, Japan etc are all members. It was originally as Organisation for European Economic Co-operation led by France to help allocate US funds to rebuild Europe after WW2. In 1961 it was reformed and renamed to Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development. At this time ( 1961 ) it was extended to non European states.

Compared: Apple's iPhone 11 Pro Max versus the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 and 10+
TheBossManX said:ericthehalfbee said:Terrible comparison and this why using numbers off a spec sheet is meaningless (though the Android fans love spec sheets).
For starters, no Android device display can touch the iPhone because Android has a horrible version of color management. Nobody can render content anywhere nearly as accurate as the iPhone. As to pixel count, both are so high nobody could ever tell the difference.
The brightness spec is wrong. You can measure peak brightness in a small area of the screen or over the entire screen. Bottom line is the iPhone has the brighter screen and Samsung is playing with numbers when they quote 1,200 nits.
Cameras? Try to record a video and switch between cameras during the video. The Note 10 often stutters and has to refocus when changing. The iPhone does this seamlessly.
Just a couple obvious examples.
1)How does Android have "terrible color management" first of all that is not even a real term and second actually compare a note 10 plus display to a iPhone 11 pro max display and you will see there is little difference in iPhones (inferior display) and the note 10 plus display espe5 when it comes to high quality her vidoe.
2) Check displaymate before you make false ill-informed claims. I'll leave it at that and let realize your own stupidity.
3) have you actually tried switching while recording because I just did it seamlessly on my note 10 plus.
Nice to see ill-informed morons spread their "knowledge" to the world. The Galaxy Note 10 maintains the two standard color profiles, Natural and Vivid, for Android devices adopting Google’s color management system.Calling people morons doesn't make you smarter or more informed.I also read both of the Displaymate reviews of the Note 10+ and the 11 Max please include the text that states the Max's screen as being inferior? We must have read different reviews I think?
The experts at DisplayMate positively gushed about the quality of the iPhone 11 Pro Max display. They call the screen “almost certainly considerably better than your existing Smartphone, 4K UHD TV, Tablet, Laptop and computer monitor.”
The crisp OLED screen in Apple’s newest flagship handset met or exceeded the test lab’s records in color accuracy, brightness, reflectance and more.

Apple increases orders for iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro
myopiarocks said:A lot of people have a 5s or 6 and can't upgrade to iOS13 - there are still a ton of these people walking around. The tech-savvy of them who can't afford a phone every two years will wait for next year's 5G phone. The less-tech-savvy (grandparents, etc) will be in the market as their 5y/o phones break, batteries wear out, etc. My guess is that Apple will make a an especially-big Christmas-season push for these less-tech-savvy folks: we'll see it in marketing toward older people, grandparents sending video-messages to kids, etc. Apple will bank these sales this year, knowing that next year's 5G iPhone sales for early adopters and tech-savvy folks will be huge. And, in any event, even after the Sept2020 launch next year the iPhone 11 isn't going anywhere. So if you don't wait for 5G and are "old" you aren't tech savvy? Hahaha You folks with this 5G shit really kill me. -
Icon for new noise cancelling AirPods found in iOS 13.2 beta

If apple made a canal style bud with the same tech and wireless charging as the current AirPods, I would not be able to pre order them fast enough.
Even tried BeatsX for myself when I bought her the original AirPods. They are great with pairing ease and range.. they sound pretty good too, but they aren't truly wireless and the cord across the neck gets old. I use them to watch tv in the bedroom paired with my Appletv when she is is trying to sleep.
My current true wireless buds from RHA sound and fit really good, but don't have the range, pairing ease or call quality that you get with AirPods.
