WarnerMedia announces HBO Max with content from CNN, DC, Adult Swim & more
lbarry74 said:Apple is completely delusional or just don’t plan on being a serious contender in original content. Anybody remembers Carpool Karaoke…???What does that have to do with their streaming service? It started out as a a recurring segment on the Late Show with Jame Cordon.. In 2016 Apple and CBS reached a first window licensing agreement that made Apple Music the home of a television series adaptation. It's also currently being shown as of this year so I am not sure why you are asking if anyone remembers it? Haha If you are going to trash talk Apple at least know what the heck it is you are talking about..I think you meant Planet of the Apps... which technically was Apple's first series... -
Apple TV trails behind Roku, other TV platforms in US device sales

As to this survey, it seems to be including TVs with built in streamers. Not really like for like.
Anyway, IMHO the Apple TV’s only problem is price. It should be half what it is. Most competitor products can be had for less than a quarter the price.
The remote is awesome and the kids here use it without issue. The best thing to do is get a case and that not only protects it but fixes the orientation issue.
Yes it includes built in TV streamers that many people will never use. So this is dumb

Apple TV trails behind Roku, other TV platforms in US device sales

I've gotten used to it, figuring out that I could tap the edges to move a single app/tile over saved me from snapping it in half as I scrolled past my desired location for the nth time. To give credit to aspects of its design, its small, rechargeable battery life is fantastic, its very tough(I have stepped on it, sat on it, dropped it, etc) with no apparent damage. It just needs more tactile inputs. I don't know how many times I picked it up in the dark and swiped on the non touchpad side. Have some form of tactile contour, a more tradition + input, or something like that. My only other major complaint is the keyboard layout in tvOS. I wish you could switch it to a QWERTY layout, having to scroll left and right for manual input(thanks Siri) is a PITA.Why not use the remote app? It allows copy and pasting as well as a full keyboard? Also in setting slow the scroll speed down. It helps a lot and let's you scroll tile to tile much easier. The newer remotes and the ATV 4k remotes have a raised ring around the menu button.. which makes it MUCH easier to identify how you are holding the remote. Why they didn't use this design from the beginning I have no clue?Personally my main complaint overall is how damn sensitive it is. If a single hair of my arm brushes against what I am watching may pause.. or start fast forwarding.. or one of the top or bottom menus comes up! Hahaha it drives me crazy! I watch in bad at night.. so I want to keep the remote nearby. -
Jony Ive's departure follows years of dissatisfaction and absenteeism
MacPro said:I am for one am not shocked that Apple is left with a lot of Apple Watch $10,000 models, I assume they are the first generation. I get Jony wanting to build a really cool, high-end version of the Apple Watch but unlike a Rolex, it isn't a thing that has much longevity. Not due to built-in obsolescence as with so many things rather because of the incredible pace of technical progress and innovation we have in the tech sector. The Apple Watch like all Apple's other products begs to be replaced with a newer version by anyone who is a tech enthusiast every few years. At least his Campus creation will be a monument and testimony to his genius that will last without being replaced by a new version in a year.

It seems more likely that Ive just missed having Jobs provide his own specific input. It's not like Ive isn't smart enough to understand that Cook isn't going to be a clone of Jobs and may not believe he has as much to offer when it comes to providing critiques of the designs. That's not actually a standard skill for business executives.
And Ive wouldn’t listen to Cook’s input on design anyway so what’s the point?
