  • France's iPhone 12 modem power testing was radically different than the standard

Great thanks Mike, for once an elucidating article on the topic.

  • Europe asks if Digital Markets Act should apply to iMessage

    mayfly said:
The EU should focus on higher priority issues. Guess they forgot there's a war on their border. Oh wait a second: there's TWO wars on their borders. Winter is coming, with sanctions on the Russian oil and gas they rely on to keep from freezing to death. Inflation is worse than it is here. France, England and Germany were sent reeling from record heat waves and flooding, killing thousands. Right wing extremist authoritarianism is spreading like wildfires, driven by anti-immigrant fervor.

And their knickers are in a knot about iMessage?

You also left out that the European automakers are about to be swamped by cheap Chinese EV imports and their automakers are going to be unable to compete against this tide.  The automotive industry in Europe is a big part of the EU economy.

The fact that they can’t see this coming is mind boggling.

  • Apple bows to China, starts enforcing App Store rules

So Apple has values beyond a duty to make money for its shareholders but at the end of the day it is a business and not a revolutionary movement.  It’s a choice between kicking up sand and taking one’s pail home or working with your playmates in the sandbox to advocate for what is important for you.

The bottom line is businesses have to follow the law or leave.

I would argue it is better for Chinese citizens and the world at large if Apple stays in China and advocates for a better day.

Though China is going in the wrong direction, turning it into an isolated pariah state like North Korea does nobody a favor.

  • Apple Stores worldwide -- including China -- are packed for iPhone 15

And the surprising thing is that so many buy into the doom year after year.  One of the things that people don’t get is that Apple products have been a signifier for middle class entry in Asian countries and the other thing is the number of young people still excited to buy Apple products.

The majority of Apple fans are the young and people who are bit more wealthy.  The cost conscious customers (the ones with families and mortgages) are the ones who are more likely to be android users & hence the ones who will forestall purchases, so android is more susceptible to slow down with economic issues or competition from other brands (Huawei).

And the other thing is that I bet the majority of these buyers are walking out with iPhone 15 ProMaxs so the ASP for Apple is going to be higher this go around.

  • iPhone 15 doesn't come with color-matched cables after all

Actually our M2 MacBook Airs have color matched cables so not sure why this is news.
