Academy squeezing out Apple TV+ movies with new Oscar rules
They better be careful with decisions like this, the reality is that movie watching is being uncoupled from the theater experience. The academy awards have been on a downward slide of relevance and decisions like this seem to be more about protecting their theater business than promoting access. In the end, the larger forces of technology and culture will prevail over their self-serving decisions. -
Apple Vision Pro -- What came before, what will come after, and when
Thanks Mike for the great article and highlighting the use of the word “Pro” in the product. I think the Pro designation speaks volumes about how Apple seees the product going forward. I do think the product line is going to be successful over time (like the iPhone and Apple Watch) and unfortunately highly addictive. I personally want to try it but as a generation X member, I worry about the social isolation of the users. I think social isolation is going to become a major health issue going forward especially it’s risk among young males and this product will be targeted as an issue. -
FTC sues Amazon, alleging users are being tricked into signing up for Prime
It took me almost two hours to cancel my ATT landline on my last move, best reason to never have one and I have never forgiven ATT for that loss of my time.
The sad thing is that it took so long for the FTC to notice this issue and take action.
I wonder how the third party App stores will behave? and will the FTC take responsibility for policing them for malware, criminal activity and issues like this?
