  • Apple denied Microsoft request to bypass 30% commission for Office

    Microsoft is a trillion dollar
Company, why should Apple allow them to bypass the fee?

It is very easy to turn around your quote.

    Apple is a trillion company.
Microsoft Office is running on multiple platform ans existed long time before the App store ecosystem.  Why should Microsoft allow Apple a 30% cut if Office is run on an iPhone  and Apple does not ask 30% if run on a Mac?

Your quote is as bad as mine, they both are irrelevant.

  • European Commission says Apple is in breach of EU competition law

Better to read the story first huh? This is not the big one. The big one is the general App Store monopoly.
In what way, exactly, is the iOS App Store a "monopoly?" It would clarify things to hear your definition. Thanks.
Form the end user point of view, it is not.

Form the app developer point of view this is obvious.    The App Store is the only distribution channel for an iOS app, and Apple is not only defining the technical requirements (security, developing guidelines),  but also the commercial and business requirements (discount policy, account ownership, payments, .. ).  Compare it with the Mac App Store, where the developer has the choice to use the store.  The developer can provide his own app distribution or use his own payment processor.

Well, so far the EU hasn’t scored a big hit to Apple. Remember the $15 billion tax controversy involving Ireland’s tax deal with Apple? The EU’s highest court ruled against them but they’re tenacious when it comes to extorting money from corporations.
It might be a detail but technically seen the case was EU vs Ireland, Apple being an involved third party.

On the other hand the term  "extorting money from corporations" is incorrect.  If the EU would have won the case, Ireland would have been forced to collect 13B Euro taxes from Apple, while the EU would not have received a single Euro.

  • Spotify now has 158 million subscribers as war with Apple intensifies

And they are not inflating their figures are they? The growth seems unlikely given how popular iPhones are and I would imagine unless you really want to use Spotify you would use Apple Music. For 99% of people they are equivalent services and using Apple Music is frictionless.
Isn't it a little arrogant to assume that a "normal" personal has to choose Apple Music iso Spotify.  Why the heck should I prefer Apple Music above Spotify?    I don't see any technical or commercial advantage.  On the contrary.  In my family we have a multitude of devices (Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS, Android). The Apple Music app for Android is no match for the Spotify app and a Linux version is simply not existing. I would not associate Apple Music with a frictionless experience.

  • EU to charge Apple over anti-competitive App Store fees this week

I now think it would be good for Apple to get ahead of this and state explicitly and loudly that developers are free to create web-apps and put them in their own web-app store - that these apps do not need to use Apple payment methods, have no Apple commission or require review by Apple or even an Apple developer account to create them. Apple is not preventing anyone creating web-app software to run on an iOS device - as this would be impossible.
That is what I, as an developer, am doing.  I am moving my apps into Progressive Web Apps as much as I can.  But nevertheless not all apps fit the PWA approach
