  • Apple facing another lawsuit claiming media purchase buttons are misleading

What happens is that the copyright owners can cancel Apple's license to sell their work. When this happens, Apple has no choice but to stop selling the copyrighted work and remove the work from their servers. When this happens, any purchaser that didn't download their purchases to their own device, will lose access to those purchases when they are no longer on Apple servers. Apple has no choice in the matter, as Apple is not the owner of the copyrighted works that they sell.
I disagree.  Apple should of course no longer sell the work, but there is absolutely no reason why Apple cannot keep the work on its servers so consumers who legally bought the license before the cancellation took place, can continue downloading it.

  • Apple not a monopoly but must allow alternate payment methods for apps, judge rules

the payment thing will not matter , 90 percent of developers will stay same because the cost of collecting your own payments will be much more of what Apple charges
As a developer I can say it is the opposite.  Up to now I had to develop and maintain 3 interfaces to payment systems, 1 for iOS apps, 1 for Android apps and 1 (commission 2,7%)  for the rest: web apps, Windows apps and Mac apps.     As I see it now, the last one will be sufficient in the future.  Next to the lower commission, there is also a cost savings in development and also in administration, as I need only 1 reconciliation of the payments in my accounting system.

  • Google spending $15B to remain default iOS search engine to block Microsoft

Why doesn't Apple help a privacy advocate such as the duckduckgo organization and let them supply the search engine? Apple doesn't need the revenue stream at this point. Wouldn't that partner be more in line with Apple's current privacy stance? Or maybe you have to be in the "Big Tech" fraternity to be considered, or maybe duckduckgo is unable to scale to accommodate such volume for what ever reason...

Ever tried DDG in a non US, non English context?  Apple wants a single global player for its search engine, not a local player

  • Apple Ireland worker wins unfair dismissal ruling in explosives case

It's been common practice at least in the US (at least in metro NY and NJ,) to have to show the contents of your bag prior to entering an arena or stadium, given the number of ill-minded people out there (and pass through metal detectors, at least at Madison Square Garden and Prudential Center). This is general knowledge.

Why resist it? There is no harm to you, and in fact, the collective action is making a safer environment.

This is not the US but Ireland and this is a work related issue. According to the working laws in the EU, employers have not the authority to search the personal items of employees, unless it is explicitly stated in the work regulations how and when this can happen .    This is general knowledge.

Generally speaking, only law enforcement services (police, customs, airport security, ...) have the authority to search the personal items of people.

Apple is so concerned about the privacy of people, but when its employees are involved, that concept is not that important anymore.
