  • Exhaustive acoustical analysis demonstrates HomePod is '100 percent an audiophile-grade sp...

    So let’s recap...
Sounds good for an Apple Music Only - Must Have Subscription - Smart Speaker.
If audio quality is your only concern, there are true audiophile speakers that blow HomePod out of the water - but for a much higher price.

So the HomePod is a made in China, budget consumer-level speaker that sounds pretty good - and has a nifty voice command feature for 1 person only - who is willing to pay for an Apple Music Subscription and already owns Apple devices - who doesn’t value their privacy.

Im sure there is a market for that.

The market is most of the AppleInsider readership.

And, you don't need to have Apple Music. You just need something (say, an iPhone) capable of streaming AirPlay to it.
    Wrong.
For it to be a 'Smart Speaker' you have to have an Apple Music subscription.
If you don't have an Apple Music Subscription - it's just a speaker.

  • 'iBoot' leak may stem from low-level Apple engineer with ties to jailbreaking community

Well, my first question would be how could a “low-level” employee have clearance to access source code, the keys to the kingdom?
Because Apple orchestrated this story to force compliance on updating the software and purchasing phones capable of iOS 10

For a few years now I've felt like they need to hire someone at Apple whose only job is to go around and slap anyone who makes really stupid anti-consumer decisions, and they should be able to unilaterally reject certain ideas (such as one port on the macbook, not supporting third party streaming services, getting rid of magsafe, and making stupidly large phones).

I guess that person is Tim Cook, but he apparently is busy doing other things.

(of course, none of this has stopped me from ordering a HomePod. I'm just concerned about being able to set it up with my ancient 5S and 2nd gen iPad).

So everyone should be slapped at Apple unless its for something you specifically want....got it! I didn't know Apple should revolve around you.
Mmmm... I'd say for something that 100% of people want, yourself included.
Who "wants" less features and less abilities and less future proofing and less functionality and less options that tie you down, hinder you? Products that are not fully developed, not fully capable?
    Who... who wants that?

    Nobody... the answer is nobody.

Apple no-longer sells products, it only sells Apple.
This isn't a home speaker designed to make people's lives better... it's a product to padlock people into Apple and make it hard for them to leave.

  • How to buy HomePod using Apple's financing options

Is it just me or is it that if you can’t afford to buy this outright you shouldn’t be buying it. If I used credit I would reserve it for necessities - like an appliance going out, not a HomePod?? Call me crazy...
No, you're pretty much bang on.
Financing a fully loaded iMac Pro for 8k... sure.

    Smoke and mirrors.
The FBI may not have keys - but the NSA has a back door to not only snoop but turn your mic and camera on at any time without you knowing.
The same backdoor Apple uses to sell your info to advertisers.

Don't believe me? try it yourself: Without having any phone or iPad on - start talking about a product: "honey, do we have any Tylenol?" "I think we are out of Tylenol", "Who in town sells Tylenol"... then watch as mysteriously your Facebook ads and cookies throw Tylenol ads at you.

The reason battery life is worse in iOS 11 is because our devices are always listening.

Try it yourself. We've seen it with 4 random products now - too much to be a coincidence.
Also, everything and anything you text to someone is read and sold to advertisers. Text someone you are thinking of taking a vacation to Hawaii and watch as your ads start sending you Airbnb for Hawaii.

The crazy thing is, we are furthest thing from conspiracy theorists - and we set out to prove this wrong... yet the results done lie.

To think that there are people in real life that think the way you do.  Seriously.  Go get some help.
Hate to shatter the tiny bubble you live in man, but PRISM is real. Patriot Act is real. Obama's blanket surveillance on citizens is real.

This guy has been right about everything so far. Congressional reviews seem to back it all up.
