Isn't that pretty much how every other gift card on the planet works?  Best Buy, Starbucks, Timmy's... Am I missing something?
The card would have been intact at time of purchase/loading. A loaded card is like cash in a wallet. Somewhere along the line she lost custody of the card. Someone scratched the back, got the number, and redeemed the cash, leaving her with an empty card. Kind of like taking the cash out of someone's wallet and putting the wallet back.  How is this different than gold coins in a sack dating back thousands of years?

Won’t it be lost when the phone gets wiped?  Or would someone be stupid enough to sell their phone with their Apple ID still signed in? 

Sounds more like Apple Pay than Apple Card. Or am I missing something?  Being able to retroactively move a transaction to a different card sounds cool at first, but in reality it’ll probably be really confusing to many and rarely used. 

I worry about a port-less phone. I often see people charging their phones  mid-day when they’re out and about. Think coffee shops, random squatters near plugs, or even little charging lockers in malls. For this, all they need to carry is a little cable. How will people charge port-less phones? Carry a Qi mat in their pocket?  How fast will it charge?  Will they have to squat in the airport hallway for an hour or more  to get a decent charge?

If they’re going to put smart connectors on the phones, couldn’t the smart cases just deliver power through that???  Or am I missing something here?
