Yours is the opinion I value most on this forum, and your enthusiasm above -- in the context of your lifetime of IT experience -- is very exciting for the future we're all on the cusp of entering.

This is the statement that Apple always makes to confirm an acquisition -- in its own way.  Apple Insider has reported this for years.

Will this require two separate thumb-presses?

I use Apple Pay @ Walgreens for:
1) Loyalty
2) Payment

... but it requires two separate thumb-presses.  It'd be nice to have one thumb-press trigger two transactions (loyalty + payment) if the user had configured it to allow that.
