Apple's Mac Pro efforts started well before the April 2017 announcement

The design of the enclosure is pretty uninspired. It looks like a car amplifier or a piece of hardware from 1989. Yes, I get that the fins/ribs in the case help to dissipate heat, but they could have put a little more effort into the aesthetic design.

) This is opposite of my experience with MacOS, where high end, older models can run new MacOSes fine even though they need to be hacked to allow it. Probably because each Mac line covers a huge range of performance, while each iPhone is just one.
