Steve Jobs unveiled the first iPhone 18 years ago
Ran across this old article and discussion, spotted my comment from 2021, and thought I’d update:FINALLY, at the very end of 2024, I retired my iPhone XR and replaced it with the iPhone 16 Pro.Thinking back, I paid $500 cash for the first iPhone. I don’t recall what the iPhone XR cost, but the iPhone 16 Pro is double the price: $999.I’m sad to say that compares favourably to the increase in price of some other things since 2007. -

Lymow One smart robomower made to deal with large lawns
sloth77 said:What does this have to do with Apple? What do you pay each year to read this site? Oh that’s right, nothing. So like most other websites, this one seeks out sponsors to underwrite the cost of bringing this information to you. During times like CES, the site can cast a wider net for sponsors than usual, because a lot of the news coming out of this event is not Apple-specific.To put this another way, this week helps pay to run the site all year. The occasional cluster of technology news that isn’t aimed at your specific interests is the “price” you pay to get the articles you care about.I should have thought you’d be familiar with this concept from your experience with newspapers, radio, television, and all other forms of media.
