This is weird. I had Apple Intelligence turned off in Settings -> Apple Intelligence and Siri in iOS 18.2 on my iPhone 14 Pro. Installed the 18.3 update today, and I no longer have an "Apple Intelligence and Siri" in 18.3, only a "Siri" one. Looks like I can't even opt to turn Apple Intelligence on (not that I can imagine doing so).
I think you need iPhone 15 pro or newer to run whatever this apple intelligence feature can do.   Your phone is not supported.
I suspect you are right. I guess I have a very valuable iPhone now.
Or your posts are just BS since in the first one you said you had previously had Apple Intelligence turned off and mentioned where in Settings you had turned it off but now it turns out your phone never supported Apple Intelligence in the first place. Oops, your trolling efforts have fallen flat.

  • Apple's fix for bad AI notification summaries won't actually improve results

You can turn off AI notifications on a per app basis, as was stated in the article. Developers can't opt out by default today, and maybe that can come in a later update, but users do have control over the feature. I personally don't understand the outrage towards this feature. I find it quite useful.
Same here and I also know not to fully trust the summary. If something seems off I either read for clarification or ignore it because I have no interest (to be clear. I see some “bad” summaries in Messages occasionally). It will likely get better with time and, by the way, doesn’t happen all that often. Personally, I haven’t seen any bad news summaries yet, except for the ones I read about.

Even human-written headlines can be written in a way that lacks clarity and maybe send the wrong message requiring a read of the article to get the proper meaning. It’s really not that big of a deal.

  • Lymow One smart robomower made to deal with large lawns

I like almost everything about this except for the speed (also, how does it deal with fences and gates?). At the rate this goes it would take it over a day to mow my lawn. The guy who currently mows my lawn can mow the entire thing, edge trim and clear our walkways, plus spend a few minutes BSing with me, and be done in an hour.

Not to mention, that speed is based on ideal conditions and a fresh, new battery.

  • New Genmoji ad showcases creations that definitely were not made with Apple Intelligence

“Clock with eyes nose and mouth” generated a clock face with those features. “Clock that can talk” just gave me a clock.

“Chair that can walk” gives me images of a chair, but changing it to “Chair with robotic legs and feet” generated chairs with robot legs, but not like in the ad. I tried “human legs and feet” and “humanoid legs and feet” but those also gave me just simple chairs.

No matter how I phrase it I can’t get a twelve-sided die that actually looks good. I either get a regular six-sided die or I get something that maybe has twelve “sides” but they aren’t even and nobody would think it was a die, it’s just sort of an odd shape. Also, even the six-sided die it generates has odd dimples of different sizes.

OK, I tired again with “Die with 12 even sides, numbered” and got this:

So, it seems like maybe we actually can generate a lot of what’s in the ad if the phrasing is correct and the phrasing in the song is very simplified, not necessarily inaccurate.

  • Norway gets world's first Apple Pay alternative for iPhone

It sounds like the only advantage is that those local Norwegian banks don't allow Apple Pay.
The major benefit is choice for the end user and with it, competition and innovation.

Apple can be bypassed completely (loosening its grip on Apple Pay, NFC revenues) but the option to remain 'all in' on Apple Pay remains should users choose to do that.

On the Android side, Google Pay is still unable to handle the dynamic CVV on my 'rechargeable' card in spite of me having reported issues for a couple of years now.

The solution? I use BBVA Pay and now never even consider Google Pay.

    Choice is good.
foregoneconclusion writes, "those local Norwegian banks don't allow Apple Pay" and you replay with "choice is good." You mean the choice to not support ApplePay. How exactly is this good for anyone else but the bank. Your comment sounds like you wish the defunct CurrentC was the payment system in use at all CVS stores right now.
If my bank offers its own wallet system, why should I be given the sole option of Apple Pay and know Apple takes a cut of every transaction?
Can you provide a source for that? From what I understand, Apple gets a cut of a transaction when there is a fee applied to that transaction for using, for example, a credit card. I haven’t seen that Apple gets a cut when I’m using a bank card that takes the money from my account, like a debit card.
