  • Apple Card offers simplified and secure Goldman Sachs-backed credit card with daily reward...

Does the Apple card charge foreign transaction fees for purchases made with the card outside the USA?  Most cards do, but if the Apple card doesn't, I would consider that a reason to get one.
The presentation said no foreign transaction fees.

2% on everything.   That's sweet!   The best I've seen elsewhere is 1.5%.   Of course other cards have special deals for specific things -- like Discover it paying 5% on groceries till the end of the month.   But, 2% across the board is tempting.
It’s ONLY 2% using NFC payments. It’s 1% for everything thing else which it the majority of your purchases.
A few months ago I counted all of the Apple Pay transactions on my credit card bill (my Visa bill used to have a little symbol next to “Blink” transactions, it was always where I used Apple Pay). Out of just over 90 total transactions 39 were Apple Pay. However, about 15 transactions were from places that have my card on file and automatically bill it, such as iTunes rentals. So, minus the transactions that were automatically paid by my credit card I had more than half of my purchases using Apple Pay. Since then I’ve found more places that accept Apple Pay.

  • Disney+ streaming service to offer entire Disney movie catalog, including 'Disney Vault' t...

DIdn’t they used to call it “Vault Disney”?

I’m curious if they’ll be streaming in 4K. My guess is yes but I don’t see that mentioned. I currently have Netflix and Hulu and so far don’t mind paying for both as we use them enough. Disney+ seems like a service I’ll subscribe to for a month here and there, just to get caught up on stuff, maybe.

It also seems like it may be a tough sell, considering Disney will still be releasing the new stuff in theaters and I imagine still on traditional media that can be purchased or rented. If I can run down the street and get, say, Captain Marvel on Blu-ray from Redbox there isn’t a huge incentive for me to be paying a monthly fee to Disney to see it there.  Whereas with Netflix content there’s nowhere to see it but on Netflix.

Either way, this will be interesting.

Oh, and who thinks Disney+ will be showing Song of the South?

  • Fitbit challenging Apple Watch with $160 Versa Lite smartwatch, new Inspire & Ace 2 fitnes...

    FitBit is still around?

Someone would be crazy to buy from a dead-man-walking company.
I was just in Disney World at the end of January and I saw a lot of people wearing Fitbits of various shapes and sizes. Don’t get me wrong, I saw a ton of Apple Watch users as well. My friend has some Fitbit watch that he thinks is great because he doesn’t have to charge it very often. Oddly he got it to track his fitness but it seems very inaccurate. For instance, it would show he walked 3 or 4 miles more than my Apple Watch did over the course of the day when we were basically together the whole time.  His wife used to wear her Apple Watch but I haven’t seen it for the last couple of years and I see her using a Fitbit band all the time.

Anyway, it seems like they still have a decent following. I don’t really follow Fitbit as a company so I have no idea how they’re doing financially.

  • Lutron ships Smart Fan Speed Control with Apple HomeKit

Lutron HomeKit accessories are by far the buggiest and most unreliable out of any HomeKit accessory.  I wouldn’t install this even if it was free.
For me it’s the opposite, I have the least problems with Lutron, almost non-existent. I have many more issues with iDevices and Honeywell. I have about 20 Hue bulbs and one is constantly giving me a hard time. But I can’t remember the last time I had an issue with any Lutron devices. They respond almost instantly to HomeKit requests via Siri and very reliably in my Scenes, Automations and Shortcuts. The Lutron accessories work so well I forget about them, and that’s a compliment.
