  • How to sync music and playlists to Apple Watch with watchOS 4 & iOS 11

Anyone who is thinking of adding music their Apple Watch, be aware: syncing the music is a very slow process.  You may want to consider letting the transfer happen overnight if you're moving a lot of music.

I've done it on 3 Apple Watches so far (currently in process on a Series 3 with LTE).  What I find mildly frustrating is the lack of a decent progress bar.  In the Watch app on the iPhone it simply says "Updating" at the top.  Occasionally I see what looks like it may be an orange progress bar, but it comes and goes and never really progresses.  On the Apple Watch in the Music app there is a spinning, partial circle for Albums/Playlists, etc., that are waiting and a circular progress bar on the Albums and Playlists that are currently transferring, so at least that's something.

Still, it's a slow process so don't expect to transfer music a few minutes before walking out the door.

I have a 3rd gen Apple TV, so no Siri. Those of you who have newer ones, do you use Siri at all? How well does it work?
I use Siri on my Apple TV all the time and it works very well.  Yes, for finding content like movies or TV shows but also to control my HomeKit devices, check the weather, etc.  In regard to controlling HomeKit devices, it’s very fast.

For fastest HomeKit response, in my experience:

    1) iPad
    2) TV
    3) iPhone
    4) Apple Watch

My iPhone flip flops between being very fast to kinda slow, and it’s all due to Siri.  Sometimes I have to wait several seconds to even see my request on my iPhone’s display, once it’s there the execution is quick.  But on the iPad and TV I barely even get the request out and it’s being executed, it’s crazy fast.

Apple Pay Cash seems to be MIA.
From the article: “set to debut in iOS 11 later this fall.”

So what will people use by the mean time?

if I send the iPhone in right after the announcement, and I want iPhone X. I might end up without a cellphone for 2-3 months, if I am lucky.

that is a little tricky situation.
The article is slightly confusing but I think it says the return kit is sent after the new iPhone ships. So you would mail the old phone back after your new phone was in-hand and working.

  • Leaked doc shows what is & isn't covered in Apple's iPhone warranty repairs

Why doesn't the Vmi reference swollen battery conditions, in or out of warranty?
I'm not clear on what you're asking. Typically, if the battery is swollen the iPhone is replaced, especially if the swelling caused other damage. If it's in warranty it is covered, if it's not in warranty there is a cost.

With MacBooks/Pros I've seen damaged top cases and trackpads. If in warranty all repairs are covered. Usually, if it's out of warranty the customer pays for the battery alone and other damage due to the swollen battery is covered. That's not always the case and again, only covers damage from the battery. So if your display is cracked, that's not covered.
