  • Samsung announces Gear S3 iOS-compatible smartwatches, one with LTE

Here is the proof that Tim and Jony's Apple is an elephant that can't dance.

And why this sole Samsung related story is being reported on Apple Insider...

  • Tim Cook's crucial role at Apple extends well beyond his 5 years as CEO

Why it necessary for this article to note all the Steve Jobs history?

Over the past 5 years hasn't Tim Cook done enough/not enough to be evaluated on his own?

Or, will everything Tim Cook be somehow posthumously credited to Steve Jobs into perpetuity???

  • Apple shakes up retail workforce with new and renamed job titles, other changes

Apple - Steve just died again. You've lost your essence, and the momentum is seriously waning now. You cant create excitement without the product innovations and 99 pct of your retail staff is flat and lifeless. Creating a new internal job structure and creedo wont fix it - create an amazing new product and pay your people well enough to make passion for your brand the most important thing they need to be worried about. And while you're at it, you might want to promote individuals based on their talents and capabilities and nothing else. Some of the very best people I've ever worked with left you because your system ignored them. Lose the system and turn back the clocks.
    Spot on post!

Apple of old used to be about innovation and exceedingly good products. Now that it's Tim and Jony's Apple, we haven't seen nary any innovation from some 115,000 employees in a year and a half. The last innovative product was Apple TV.

    A regime change is overdue.

  • Apple culture hinders recruitment and talent retention efforts, report says

Makes a lot of sense - the over paid empty skirt has no value to add so she spews BS to try and look valuable.  What I have noticed at our local Apple Store is that it is far less crowded and very little excitement is observed.  Several years ago you could barely get in the door and the passion of things Apple was palpable.

If Apple retail is moving online than why are they building out so many stores?

Oh dear. Your personal anecdote is nullified by mine.

I don't find it less crowded, but business is conducted much more efficiently; I get in and make my purchase faster. My store in Reno has been in operation since March 2006, and I go there about 4 times a year; a couple of major purchases, and usually a quick stop for an accessory or cable. It's always fast if you know what you want, and I have never seen any of the tables for consultations or diagnosis empty.

There would be less excitement of course than when the store opened, but then again, I'm part of the customer base for the store for the last decade. Younger customers likely have a "more exciting" experience.
Let me ask you a couple questions about your quarterly visits to Jony Ive's House (your local Apple Store) You already own one of everything they sell, correct? Your visits there are not an eye opening experience? Are you challenged ( oh that's a neat, intriguing, compelling accessory I was unaware of) at all?

My point is that for an increasing amount of people, store visits are a ho-hum experience. A lot of traffic with fewer and fewer actual purchases. Much like my last quarterly visit which was to view a very specific website (high def images of King Tut's Tomb) on a 5K monitor to see if there was noticeable difference from my 7 year old iMac at home. I surfed the website (unimpressed, no discernible difference) and walked out.

I think many people are having the same experience.

  • Apple to source iPhone OLEDs from Samsung and LG, report says

Using my AW in sun light frequently... don't see that problem.
The 'problem' is that Apple phones don't have OLED screens at the moment while Samsung phones obviously do, so OLED has to be considered to be an inferior technology right up to the minute Apple releases a phone with an OLED screen when suddenly it will become the best technology since sliced bread and the ass-covering will take the form: Apple's OLED panels are better than anyone elses and all those that existed in products before the iPhone can be discounted as grossly inferior. There will be claims that OLED panels have only become good enough because Apple has secretly been researching the OLED tech that is in the new panels, based on Apple marketing inventing and using some term like 'retina' in describing 'their' new displays.

I have argued with people that claims of burn-in are grossly exaggerated and are limited to extreme cases, but no doubt any panels Apple uses will be touted as being somehow superior to all others and free of the non-issue because Apple has solved the 'problem' because of some marketing spiel.
Think of all the BS arguments on AI for years about the inferiority of phones with screens larger than what were in iPhones - right up until iPhones got them. It's exactly like that nonsense.
Finally, someone who sees behind the curtain! I believe, if this article is taken as truth; the most important take-away is the driving down of LG and Samsung margins to 8 -9% indicated. In my opinion that would be the primary motivation for a move to OLED screens.
